A charming little town with deep history, without an established historical preservation committee, and it appears they do not need it, because everyone who lives in the community understand and cares for the treasure they have. Folks that move in, I was told, all seem...More

We had a great day walking the streets of downtown Essex, loved the scarecrows on the lamp posts and the decorations for Halloween in many of the homes. Also enjoyed visiting the town park and view of the harbor.

Great place to stroll and browse galleries, stores and restaurants. Grab a sandwich and head to the town park, or stroll through the marina.

If you love your country, it is important to visit the small towns of America that never forgot their heritage. They celebrate it with history, flags, and markers for every pre-revolutionary and pre-Civil War house. Very nice!

You can walk down to the river from this little park. It has a gazebo for evening entertainment. Bring a chair and relax in beautiful surroundings.
