Spent a recent winter morning with some friends touring The Old State House!!! What a fantastic way to spend some time - our guide Brian was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The guided tour is free with your admission - which I might add is very very reasonable ($3.00 with a AAA membership) plus, they validate your parking ticket so it only... More

What a fabulous tour....and the same price for a tour as for doing it yourself. You first see a film giving history of the building and our guide Rebecca was so full of stories and information. We could not help but love the building....and what a bargain! Another must see!~

This is one of those places you walk by a few times a day. Make an effort to to visit, especially if you like history. It is a gem.

As a total history nerd, I loved walking around here. Sure, the displays were pretty good but what I enjoyed most was just walking around the upstairs where the big rooms (the actual state house areas) are. That's where you feel the history. The staff is also very friendly and if you are in town visiting from out of state,... More

In spite of a board saying that it was open from 10am to 5pm, there was a notice on the door telling us that it was shut. It didn't say why or for how long.

The outside of the building is nice and you get a great picture of your family in stocks but sadly, the place is closed. I hope to see it the next time I'm in the state.

Hartford downtown is compact and well-laid out. The Old State House is a historical building located right in the middle of State Square. Closeby is the Science Center

The Old State House (800 Main St, Hartford, CT) is a very nice place to visit. A lot of History about Democracy and American great Leaders. Its a National Historic Landmark and we can learn about Hartford and the state of Connecticut too. The "Joseph Steward Museum of Curiosities" is on the third floor and displays a very good collection... More
