We visited on a Sat afternoon and enjoyed a non-crowded, small group tour. You need to have 2 hours (and a literary proclivity) to enjoy a complete visit to the Mark Twain house. The house itself is a nice victorian home, well preserved and restored....More

There are long lines, and then when you finaly get in you get to hear a boring commentator talk about an old house while you walk for a half and hour through it.

We had wanted to visit the Twain house before and the ghost tour was a perfect reason. Definitely not overly scary, but a unique perspective and the house did not disappoint. It was beautiful. We look forward to returning again in the future.

We recently took the living history tour and loved every minute of it! Our tour guide was Lizzie Wills, Mark Twain’s gossipy maid. She made the tour both informative and a lot of fun! It was just like we were were visiting back in Mark...More

To date this has been my favorite house tour. I am not a huge Mark Twain fan, but the stories, architecture and history in the house are amazing. No pictures are allowed inside which is disappointing but understandable. I loved the tour, as well as...More

The Mark Twain House and Museum is an astonishing architectural, historical and literary gem in the middle of old Hartford--a few steps from downtown and right next to the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. Beautifully restored, the experience of seeing Twain's library and writing rooms, learning...More

I had 1 hour to kill before I had to be at the airport so I decided to go see this house. Tours take 1 1/2 hours, so I didn’t have enough time to take a tour. I asked if I could just walk around...More

Visited the Mark Twain House and Museum on a cold damp day in October. Booked the character tour with the maid, which was very interesting. As there was a delay of 90 minutes before this tour commenced we decided to warm up with a coffee...More
