I grew up in the area and would walk or bike to Cedar Hill Cemetery when I was very young. The grounds were designed to be a rural cemetry along the lines of the much larger and more celebrated Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA....More

Paid our respects - very easy to find. Interesting cemetery. Sort of sad to see the state of the stones.

This seems to be one of Connecticut's hidden gems as I only visited a few months ago for an actual funeral. The areas lend themselves to peaceful and meditative groves and nature just to take time pray and reflect.

The cemetery is not too large and basically level. You can pick up brochure of trees and of 'famous' interments. Good spots for shade.

Landscaping is well taken care of. The scenery is beautiful with the pond and geese walking around. Peaceful where you can't hear any traffic when you enter the cemetery.

Very worth the drive through. Many of Connecticut's historic residents are buried here. Beautiful monuments in a park like setting. Grave location map is available at the entrance for the notables. Special cemetery walks throughout the year.

Cemeteries that have cultural events, oh my! I enjoy just driving around looking at the statuary. A haven for runners, people eating their lunch, taking a walk, and yes, paying homage to loved ones.
