Chessell Pottery Barns is a family owned working pottery in the heart of the West Wight countryside - this complex of converted barns consists of a Studio where all ages can paint their own pottery, a beautiful Gift Barn selling Chessell Ware(our own pottery made onsite) as well as the largest range of Emma Bridgewater Pottery on the Island, plus a great selection of toys, gifts and home made preserves. There is also a Cafe , where chef Bridget Wells prepares simple, light lunches from fresh local ingredients, as well as an array of home baked cakes and an award winning Cream Tea featuring our own home made strawberry jam, and served on the pottery's own pretty Strawberry Ware pottery in the relaxing courtyard garden. The Chessell Cafe also serves light lunches, full Afternoon Teas on a 3-tier stand, and is now licensed to sell wines and local Ales. There is a spacious four star holiday cottage onsite which sleeps 7, so why not stay at the pottery, enjoy a cream tea on arrival and have a go at painting your own pottery during your stay!

Had a great time with my husband who totally enjoyed the silence while I concentrated! A variety of items to choose from to paint with a price to suit everyone's pocket. The staff are patient and experienced, helping in every way they can. The pieces are then glazed and fired ready for you to collect a few days later. If... More

Wonderful cafe must go just for the scones. You can paint your own pot and can have help with your design if needed. Brilliant for children to keep them occupied on a rainy day. Good selection of Emma bridge water pottery and a variety of gifts

We stopped here for a bite to eat and were not disappointed. The food is so fresh and tasty. The warm pastries and fresh and tasty sandwiches...and the cakes and scones are absolutely delightful. We will definitely go back. We bought some lovely pottery in the shop and enjoyed watching people create their own pieces too.

We visited for afternoon tea whilst away on a relaxing weekend. We drove across from Sandown after reading reviews on here and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious, the sandwiches, quiche, scones and cakes were AMAZING (and no hard bread to be seen!!). Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making our weekend

An incredible, social and fun place to visit with young children, family and friends. Large tables can accommodate big groups easily and there is no time limit, meaning you can take as long as you like. Even bring refreshments from the cafe in with you! Let your imagination run wild and decorate your chosen pottery freehand, or use pre-cut sponge... More

My sister and I tried the pottery painting and we ended up overwhelming ourselves trying to get in as much as we could in two hours. We've also only managed to order two cups of hot chocolate and it was delicious. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We have enjoyed ourselves and cannot wait to get our pottery through the mail.
