We enjoyed the boardwalks through the wetlands, searching for caves, and watching fisherman pull trout from the pond.

We probably didn't have enough time to tell you much, but the Chatfield Hollow state park was quite nice on a sunny April day. It's definitely worth exploring further.

Chatfield Hollow is a beautiful place: there are miles of trails, paved roads, picnic spots, fishing and swimming ponds and relatively few crowds, especially in the off season.

I see the park is open all year but the gate is only open on weekends. Is there street parking? Are the bathrooms still open?

There are free parking lots in front of the gates--they are usually pretty empty except for the summer. There are portable toilets in a number of places throughout the park.

Yes there is grilling. There are some grills there on site. On Memorial Day I saw a dog there on a leash in the picnic area. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed in the beach area.
