This would be a must visit if your at Hammonasset State park. This is probably the only thing that the State of CT. did right for you 22 dollar fee to get in to the overcrowded beach area.

This place has a great little selection of reptiles, birds and fish, its small compared to an aquarium or zoo, but for a state park nature center it's top shelf. Touch pool where the kids can touch and play with a hermit crab, horseshoe crab...More

When visiting Hammonassett State Park and Beaches, stop into Meigs Point Nature Center. It's a great building and popular with school groups during the year and for visitors heading to the area beach.

Brought our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and while it is on the small side, it was just enough for her. She especially enjoyed the touch tank and the sand table with toys outside. Very clean....volunteer staff members very friendly and informative. Enjoyed the memory...More

The brand new nature center is a terrific destination or a side attraction during a Hammonassett Beach visit. It houses native live and preserved animals, birds, amphibians and fish as well as a "petting tank" and educational materials. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.
