Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Ogmore by Sea beach on a wet midweek lunchtime in August. We had travelled here by car from Ogmore Castle with our daughter and her family and there is a pay & display car park here. As the rain was falling, we opted first to eat our packed lunches in our respective cars looking out over the sea. Later the rain stopped and we managed to explore there in more detail.
The beach is fairly flat and has some sand though would probably not be ideal for a young family to enjoy a day by the sea. There are no facilities (refreshments or shops|), that we could see although there are public toilets nearby.
However, the beach is not without its charm, there are some low-level rocky outcrops further along which are a joy to explore, though take care as they can become slippery when wet. These outcrops hold small rock pools when the tide recedes and also look very interesting in terms of their texture and also the colour changes caused by the parts that are wet and those that have dried out.
Probably a beach that will appeal more to walkers and lovers of the British coastline than sun worshippers.

A really great beach, with a varied terrain from rocky outcrops to sandy sections. Compared to many beaches elsewhere there were few plastics on the beach, largely reserved to the strand line.

It would benefit from clear signposting to bins and the toilets (brilliant that there are toilets and they’re clean too). There was a food van nearby doing hot food like chips, fried halloumi, squid etc, but after queuing behind one order for about 20 minutes with no end in sight for being served I, and someone else, gave up. *Incredibly* slow service but did look good, so disappointed not to have been able to take advantage of it.

A lovely place to walk by the sea (Bristol Channel). What is lovely is there are plenty of places to park, and you can choose how easy or difficult a walk to make it. It feels peaceful and calm, and loads of people had their dogs with them as well. It's a great place for a family walk.

The positives. Everything about the beach area was nice. Dogs are allowed which is great. There is a fair bit of space for car parking and this brings me to the really poor aspect of visiting.
The negatives. The car park is £1 for 1 hour and then £6 for over an hour. It's like being mugged at the pay point. A number of people paying were disgusted at this abysmal pricing policy. It wouldn't be so bad if the car park fees were put into the infrastructure but it isn't. The toilets are absolutely disgusting. I imagine they were last properly cleaned several years ago and probably have never been renovated since they were built. The council (?) have decided on a great way to spend the money. They spent it by installing a Number Plate Recognition system so they can persecute anyone who might be a minute over their alloted time. Make sure you don't make a mistake entering your number plate when buying a ticket or the NPR will not recognise your vehicle when you leave. Then you will be fined unless you kept your ticket.

A lovely beach but parking is an absolute nightmare on a nice day. To the point you may get stuck in there for hours due to people just dumping their cars, vans anywhere they can squeeze in. Motorhomes where stuck on the only road out due to this, and it just caused gridlock. You can't even turn around and go back. If you hate parking as I do anyway id avoid this beach. Shame because its a lovely place but very uncomfortable trying to park and get out. To the point it was causing punchups nearly. I'll return possibly but when the sun goes in.

The car park is expensive, machines difficult to use. Barriers confusing. No attendants. Looks as though any mistakes on the machine input would leave you stuck in the car park. Drove straight out . I have lived here for 40 years and will never use this car park ever again. It was almost empty since the draconian parking system was installed recently. I hate the place now.

Shocking parking. Need to sort it out could not park anywhere and people getting stuck in sand trying to park. If you want to destroy the underside of your car or pay £6 to park on a verge - if you arrive before 6am - crack on. Had to leave could not park

The beach is lovely but not sandy , and as we got there early thought ooooh good , but it got packed out . There’s loos and a hut that sells drinks and food , and the guys that’s work there are lovely and so helpful . But … BEWARE . The PARKING. It’s a free for all ( you have to pay but it’s not expensive but didn’t take cash ) but people block you in and don’t care where they park . We arrived at 11 and left at 1 … thank god we did as we were already 80% blocked in . I can see why the earlier reviews said there were punch ups etc . No one cares or cares where they park and who they block in. Took ages to get out at 1pm and loads of vehicles still trying to get in . Good luck and may the force be with you !! 🙏

Visited Ogmore by the sea with the dog and was not disappointed. Great facilities including parking (not free), toilets, ice cream van and a coffee shop.

We visited on a beautiful sunny winters day in January and the beach, walks and sunset were amazing.

Plenty of parking (again not free) and not overcrowded by any means.

Kids and dogs can play on the beach.. both sandy and pebbly all day. You can even body board if your brave enough. Lovely coastal walk for miles and miles.

Parking is £1 upto an hour and £6 all day... bargain and you can pay with your phone if you forgot cash.

Car parking was easy in the car park, cost £6. Imagine it can get full on low tide and nice weather days. The beach doesn’t appear until the tide goes out on the car park side of the river. Swimming in the river is prohibited. Lots of kite surfaces out and horses about. Great for doggy adventures. Kids had fun digging up the sand. Rock pools but no wildlife when we went.
