The Hobbiton Movie Set tour is an essential stop on the itinerary for all visitors travelling through New Zealand, offering an interesting and entertaining experience incorporating the famous film set as seen in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep and beef farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the village, with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will then escort you around the set, showing you the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. You will be taken around the 12 acre set; past Hobbit holes, the Mill and into the famous Green Dragon™ Inn, where you can indulge in our exclusive, specially brewed beverages to conclude your own Middle-earth™ adventure.

We booked the twilight tour and banquet for my brothers birthday present. He was the only fan and the remaining 4 of us hadnt seen the movies or read the books. We all had a fantastic time, despite the rain. Our guides were incredible. So knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tour is really cool and amazing to see the sets. The... More

My friend really wanted to do this so I went along for the ride, boy did I enjoy it! So fantastic, you really feel like you are in the movie! We were lucky to have both fantastic weather & also to have a fantastic tour guide as well, Kieren, she did such an amazing job showing us around & telling... More

Yes, it is overpriced and you have to keep up with the group and walk in line through Hobbiton and can only look at the hobbit holes and not enter them. And yes it is pretty short. Nevertheless it is a beautifull place, very well maintained with lots of details and you really feel like you are in Hobbiton. Just... More

AWESOME! What a wonderful few hours we spent here - luckily we went on the only sunny day of that week. From our lovely coach driver Hori, to our lovely enthusiastic guide what a lovely day. Beautifully maintained and looked after, from the largest to the smallest detail. The only slightly negative comments would be:- Could you have the inside... More

You might assume the Hobbiton tour can only be fully enjoyed by Lord of the Rings or The Hobit fanatics, however you would be very wrong. We watched the Lord of the Rings movies a few years ago and forgot most of the finer details pertaining to the Shire, yet we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Hobbiton movie set.... More

This place was bigger and better than we expected! What a fantastic afternoon out. Really well thought through tour, and the ginger beer and apple cider in The Green Dragon pub at the end of the tour were the icing on the cake. This surely has to be the best movie set ever!

We visited the Hobbiton movie set with a friend who lives locally. It was a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, and the set was so beautiful. I loved the pathways and gardens, I adore quirky and whimsical gardens and buildings. This was a most enjoyable afternoon, the staff were brilliant, so informative and approachable. A very special day for us.

Hobbiton was everything I wished it could be! I love the magical atmosphere, the creativity and sheer wonder for us other earthlings to explore and experience. The attention to detail is wonderful.

The views were great. They have done a fantastic job of maintaining the look of a "lived-in" village. The Houses are all fronts though - there's nothing inside the doors. So you're just walking around outside (in our case - in the rain) looking at different sized hobbit doors. They give you a free drink, but it was so bad,... More
