We visited Veterans' Day weekend. Very quiet. Passed 6 others along the trail. Beautiful views. Great variety on the trail. Some flat, some rock scrambles, a few streams to cross on logs or rocks. Walking sticks helped in the water crossings. Several spots to stop...More

Lots of drinkng and trash. Bit of a hike to the lake. People have no respectt for the environment. Crawling* all over the shore and islands causing terrible erosion, lots of trees and vegetation being lost. STAY AWAY

I didn't mind the area in which we visited and I understand based on the location there is no running water. But that would be my number one concern. I would've liked at least a washing area for your hands or even hand sanitizer after...More

This is one of the the largest lakes in CT. It has incredibly clear water with lots of shallow water near the shore - ideal for kids - and deeper water for adults. It's deep enough for lake trout (I haven't caught any, though), and...More

Not a bad little park on weekdays. Lots of hiking options. Swimming in the summer. Plenty of parking. Weekends are a waste. Too crowded with lots of inconsiderate people. Garbage everywhere. Loud and obnoxious behavior. Stay away on weekends.

We visited in October with the bright foliage colors contrasted with dark evergreens, quite beautiful. As someone else noted, many of the hiking trails aren't clearly marked. Even with a trail map, and I'm pretty decent at finding my way in the woods, we failed...More

Came during the week in the summer, no charge to get in. Great place to enjoy boating and kayaking. Old school cabin outhouses. Beautiful clean water. Only thing is people park in boat trailer spots, makes it difficult for those needing a large spot to...More

BIgelow Hollow is a great place for hiking in the fall, almost in solitude. It's gorgeous in it's scenery and has all different kinds of hiking- easy to more difficult, short to long . . . If you aren't familiar with the area, the trails...More

This was such a wonderful place to hike! There are so many pine trees and views of the lake! The trails are extremely well marked. I went in the fall and there weren't a ton of people. The blue and white trail forms a loop...More
