Only seven people are allowed at one time into this small cave, where you will see very atmospheric cave paintings. Our guide was a very interesting archaeologist who animated the paintings by flickering her torch against the walls of the cave. Stunning! Not only a...More

I booked on line and I would recommend this as it is a little remote. Joaquin was an excellent guide, expressive and passionate about prehistoric cave art. I had a few problems following the Spanish but it really didn't matter. We were given torches to...More

Although the entarnce is up the mountain, the path is fairly easy and gradual. Victoria was a most wonderful guide who made the visit magical. We felt very privilaged to have such an expert guide. Thank you

We climbed the 700 metres to the cave to be greeted by a gruff man who turned out to be the most enthusiastic guide we have ever met. We speak very little Spanish and he spoke very little English but we understood his enthusiasm and...More

The Cueva Covalanas is amazing. The painting inside are about 20,000 years old and they are wonderful. We booked online to ensure a place amongst the seven participants in the tour. Victoria, the tour guide, was excellent.

This is an original cave with 18,000 year old paintings using the unusual dot painting technique (unlike Altamira where all you can see are reproductions). All the paintings are in red ochre & are mostly of deer. Because the technique & style of the paintings...More
