Good for those who are interested in Seaford history. Also used as wedding venue or other events . Parking is sparse if planning a large event.

Another architectural tour on our east coast road trip. Not of the Newport, RI coastal mansions, but a very large house that examines how the wealthy live. Fun tour and if nothing else an opportunity to slow down as we drove through the countryside.

This is probably the furthest north "southern plantation" I have seen. The Seaford Historical Society is taking excellent care of this property. They also seem to offer a lot of educational programs. The Ross Mansion, Slave Quarters, granary are some of the attractions. Inexpensive and educational.

The Mansion has been restored and so have most of the out buildings. The grounds are kept up. Nice rain garden has been added to the landscaping.

Recently, I had an opportunity to visit the Governor Ross Mansion/Plantation in Seaford, Delaware. The Mansion is located on the outskirts of town, in a bucolic-like setting, among farmland and large shade trees. The house is in remarkably good shape, both inside and out, and...More
