Beautiful state beach with friendly staff and super clean. We loved our visit there and will definitely go back on our next visit.

Barefoot Beach is a beautiful place to take a walk (with water shoes), check out the nature center or catch a sunset. It isn't a great place to lay on the beach. There is very little sand, it is mostly crushed shells so if you are looking for a beach to spend the day laying on the sand, this isn't... More

I should have listened to the other reviewers, but this beach is FULL of shells and really hard in the feet. This was hard for us bc we had a 2 yr old with us. We visited the Naples Pier beach and like that much better especially with a little one.

Great place to park and watch the sun set. Bring a jacket and chairs. Come a little early on the weekends to make sure you get a good parking spot.

Not enough parking, $8 got you lousy restrooms and a closed concession stand DURING season. Not enough seats for the people there if you wanted to sit and eat or have a drink.

This is a beautiful preserve that offers a long stretch of Gulf Coast beach as well as a mostly shaded hiking/running path thru the Florida vegetation down to Wiggins Pass and overlooking the Cocohatchee River outlet. The preserve also offers regular informational sessions related to the preserve areas, great for grown-ups and children alike.

We enjoyed the ranger led canoe trip to estuary but you must make reservatipns Walking along the boardwalk of the beach was enjoyable. Gopher tortoises are a common sighting.

I have never seen so many shells and I have been to a lot of beaches! Really amazing. Beautifully taken care of. This is a preserve - please be respectful.
