Have been there a several of times, interesting visit and the castle is in reasonably good condition and the views are excellent. The food at the restaurant was quite tasty.

This was a neat place. We were there mid week and except for someone at concession stand we had the place to ourselves. Nothing was labeled in English so we had to guess at what we were seeing but then we didn't have a guide...More

Love the view of the city. The castle was being fixed up and it looked well preserved. Loved the spooky feel to it. It’s free to enter, there is a donation box. There’s some trails to walk around if that’s something you’re interested in. Overall...More

We visited here and it was different. The views are amazing. Very interesting to look around. Unfortunately there wasn’t anything open only the toilets. Possibly due to time of year. Nevertheless we enjoyed our visit.

The castle provided great views and castle ruins in good shape for their age. The structure had a fascinating history of Mary Shelly's classic novel!

If traveling between Heidelberg & Frankfurt it's a great idea to make this pit stop. (Plus there are things to see & do in Darmstadt.) It is usually free, but there was a Medieval group charging 3 Euros to get in. Great view of the...More

From the castle you can see the surrounding areas. It is amazing. It is well preserved and a great place to visit. I could only imagine this place at Halloween.

Arrived Frankfurt on Monday morning and drove to Darmstadt to see the castle on our way to Heidelberg. Beautiful scenery approaching the castle and parking was easy. Walk up can be challenging for mobility challenged folks, but well paved. Grounds are small, nicely kept, but...More

You should be able to get a taxi to take you up but it is a long drive so it may be costly. I would rent a car. Enjoy!
