The Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is the primary art, science and history museum in Central Florida. The area's largest museum, MOAS is nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate. Located on a 90-acre Florida nature preserve, the 100,000 square foot facility is host to over 30,000 objects including the Dow Gallery of American Art, one of the finest collections of American art in the Southeast, the Schulte Gallery of Chinese Art, the Bouchelle Collection and Gallery of Decorative Arts, the largest and most comprehensive collection in the South, and the Root Family Museum featuring restored railroad cars, antique automobiles and the largest collection of Coca-Cola(R) memorabilia in Florida. The Helene B. Roberson Visible Storage Building exhibits thousands of objects from many donors which are owned by the Museum, while the Linda and Williams Children's Museum presents an interactive experience for children. A new state-of-the-art planetarium and the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art showcasing the largest collection of Florida-based art in the world, rounds out areas to explore inside the Museum of Arts & Sciences. The Museum's new West Wing will open to the public on October 30, 2015. The West Wing contains the Gillespy Gallery of Sub-Saharan African artifacts, the Cuban Foundation Museum showcasing one of the most significant collections of Cuban paintings in the United States, and a prehistory of Florida gallery, featuring Florida's Giant Ground Sloth skeleton.

Nice display of furniture and oil paintings. They have a Cuban, Chinese and American gallery. They have a gallery for children. The best part is the coke gallery with all of the machinery from the root factory and old coke machines

I have lived in Florida since 1957, and in New Smyrna Beach since 2009 and did not even know that this wonderful Museum of Arts and Science even existed. My sister, cousin and I took the tour and were really impressed for such a small town to have such a wonderful place to visit. There is a wonderful children's section,... More

The permanent collections and exhibits were enough to hold my attention. For a small space, I thought the lay-out was well done. I especially enjoyed the Americana and Coca-Cola exhibit. Childhood memories came racing back and seeing items from those times was fun. The laser show in the Planetarium was worthwhile.

Some of my favorite exhibits were furniture from various countries and time spans, a visible storage area so you can see just how many items the museum really has, a Coca Cola history section, pre-history of Florida with a giant sloth skeleton and a partial skeleton of a Florida mastodon (both of which were actually discovered near the museum), and... I had been to this museum years ago and was amazed at how it's grown and all that it has to offer. Famous for it's giant sloth---we're talking taller than a polar bear here---the skeleton is rare in that it is so complete. There is also a large collection of Cuban Art given to the museum by a former dictator.... More

MOAS is large, diverse, and kid friendly. There is even a children's museum where the kids can amuse themselves for hours, along with large and interesting displays (and a planetarium). Don't miss the full size ground sloth skeleton which was found in the 70's!

This is a GREAT museum! You can enjoy it alone, with friends or with family and kids. There is so much to see, a kids center, planetarium and now they have the added art museum next door.
