Negative birthday party experience, first time at Daytona Lagoon
Jun 2021
Warning: long post. This is a review for a birthday party + cabana booked at Daytona Lagoon.

Summary: Other than the actual room and the plates/decorations that I would value at maybe $30 at the dollar store/party city, I did not receive any meaningful service or hosting of the party itself and we had to do all the work gathering everything we needed. It truly felt as though they somehow forgot that they had a party booked in the glow room for that time frame. Having this be our first experience at Daytona Lagoon, I loved the water park and cabana but the birthday experience was the worst I have ever had.

The small window available at the entrance to check in and pay for the birthday party is extremely crowded and inaccessible. There is no way to easily distinguish it from the line for normal entrance to the park and the wait is long, even at 11:30 AM. Some of my guests got lost and so I do not think they all had their entrance paid for as I had planned/paid for when I arrived. Most ended up waiting in line because they couldn't figure out where the birthday/event desk was. Additionally, the staff at the birthday party/event window were rude and obviously annoyed with our presence, giving us attitude and sighs with any questions or requests we had.

Once it came time for our party in the glow room (3-4 PM), we arrived from the water park and the room was basically empty. There were plates and cups set out on the table, but that was about it. There were not enough place settings for the amount of child guests that we planned and paid for. There were no goodie bags, no water or drink pitchers, no pizza, I mean absolutely nothing else. We waited and let the kids play while the adults kept trying to find someone to help us. We had to keep going out of the room to flag someone down or go all the way to the birthday/event window (which was, of course, packed) in order to get food, drinks, and supplies. By 3:20 PM, we still had no drinks or food. By 3:35, I believe we finally got pizzas and some of the drink pitchers, some of which we incorrect and still no water. We had to flag someone down again to bring the cake, which arrived around 3:50 PM. Once we sang happy birthday and passed out the cake, we finally had someone come around to check on us and she said we had to leave as soon as possible to prepare for the next party. We told her absolutely not, due to the above timing factors. She stated that we should have had a party hostess which took care of all that. Imagine that - we didn't even know there was supposed to be a party hostess because we A) never saw anyone attend to our room or come check on us and B) we had to get EVERYTHING on our own, one thing after another.

Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed in the birthday party experience. The water park itself was wonderful, we even booked a large cabana and that BY FAR was the highlight of the day. The birthday party experience itself was horrid and I cannot believe I paid such a premium for basically no service whatsoever, as well as being rushed out at the end with attitude. It is clear that your establishment is severely understaffed and the staff themselves are inexperienced and not any good at customer service. We received attitude from both the entry window staff and all of the birthday party staff, in addition their incompetence and hesitation to help us out while we were doing the bulk of the work for the party room itself. At the very end of the day, I went to inquire as to how to receive the free ticket for future water park entry for the birthday boy (as advertised in the party package), but there was literally no one present at any of the entrance windows for the 10 min I waited. I just gave up at that point and left.

No waves
Sep 2021 • Family
It was a limited service day and our tickets reflected that. It was “Pool Daze”. Ok. But then, the wave pool made no waves, the grill had no cheese for the loaded nachos and no ice cream. Small things I suppose but even with limited service discount it still cost almost $75 to get the family into the park. It seems reasonable to expect things to work and food vendors to be properly stocked.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Aug 2021
PLACE IS TRASHHHHHH!!!! A COMPLETE JOKE!!! All time worst employees I've ever seen in my life!! I guess that starts from the top, you're only as good as your manager. With being a local I remember when this place opened, pretty freaking exciting. To watch this place completely disintegrate blows my mind. Specially with the amount of money this place makes or I should say mislead and abstract money from people. It is not worth it. We are going on years now of half of the slides not working. Place is disgusting, not cleaned regularly, specially the bathrooms. Nobody regulates anything, you cant even be a paying customer at the bar and sit under a umbrella while PAYING for drinks. Everyone just sets up shop there and clearly not buying anything. Worst part is a witness people bringing in their own food and drinks!!! I mean come on. But then again it does make sense, they're the smart one!! They don't have to sit in a line for over a hour to order food. The other thing that blows my mind, they just keep letting people in regardless if they are over occupied. Wayyy overpriced for this toilet. Do not waste your money!! Spend a couple more dollars and go to Volcano Bay. I would not be surprised if this place gets condemned for everything being unsafe or the health department shuts it down for the filth.

Disgusting. Wanted to leave as soon a we walked in. Looks like the place hasn’t been cleaned in years. Employees didn’t give a damn. Health department should shut this place down. Chipped stairs everywhere, dirt, grime and mold. Tubes aren’t clean. No signs stating where to walk, or to bring a tube up the stairs when needed. Full price but lots of stuff closed. Wish I saved the $200 for 5 of us.

Horrible, dirty, every single staff member was rude and non attentive, the kitchen was dirty and the food was wayyyy overpriced. They put my sons vest on wrong for the ropes course, the staff was smoking their vapes in the laser tag room, the go cart staff was eating and smoking while working the go carts, the girl behind the counter had a horrible attitude and everyone was on their phone and not paying attention to the guest. i seriously could go in and on. too bad you have to leave one star because it honestly deserves none.

Horrible
Jul 2021
I am a local 1st time season pass holder and want this water part to succeed. Today, it failed. I have read all the recent negative reviews and concur 100%. It is filthy and not worth the visit at this point. Although I appreciate the main focus of lifeguards abounding (safety is paramount), swimming in trash filled water and walkways teeming of slippery algae is dangerous. The lazy river was shut down today after 2 - 3 hrs and our surmise was it was contaminated.
Daytona Lagoon....I implore you to heed the warning signs. I sympathize under staffing is an issue. That said, a new business model is essential for survival. Get it together or DL will be another Daytona fail.

Nasty

First, I would like to thank and congratulate all the young employees. They are very understaffed and the chaos and lack of proficiency is NOT their fault. It’s poor management and a water park that is in desperate need of a thorough washing and organization. The place smells like an old trash bin. When I arrived at 10:45 am with my grandchildren, the garbage cans were over flowing, garbage all over the ground, filthy dirty lounge chairs, and a disgusting bathroom. It wasn’t long after we arrived, that the lazy river was shut down because of “lightening” but there was none in sight and all other areas were still open. (So lightening couldn’t have been the issue???)

Shortage on tubes (even if you can figure out where the heck to find where they are kept for each slide)

When we arrived home, I was surprised by the stench in our suits and bodies. Not a usual pool smell at all!

The children had fun but for the couple of hundred I spent, this place is a health risk and just NOT worth the price.

GROSS!

Don't.

Save your money. Long lines, rides closed, not enough staff to run the park, and it just needs to be cleaned.

this is our first and most likely only visit. The bathrooms needs regular cleaning .as well as the rest of the park.the arcade Was clean but very expensive....one player , one game of mini bowl for 5$ crazy. The walk ramps are slippery not just from wet but from algee growing in the ponding water. I bit a bleach will kill the algee even without a push broom to clean it away...l understand the slippery wet but all the algee is just bad, unkept dirty, and lazy. The kids had fun but all the adults are sadly disappointed.
