We decided to visit this museum while we were in town and we’re so glad we did. We were the only ones in the museum while we were there so it was wonderful! The collection is extensive and amazing! So relaxing and inspiring. Go! You’ll love it and appreciate the collection.

History and art
Apr 2021
4/28/21; I was there for a conference and we were allowed to see the art in the main building, but the other building were unavailable to us. That was understandable. I have never see a "Florida" collection of are such as this. Some it goes back into the 1800's and a lot of 1900's work as current. The history of Florida is preserved in oils and other media. Horse and buggies on the beaches of Daytona and New Smyrna beaches was cool. Ormond beach was highlighted as well. From the Panhandle to the Keys and most of the pieces had their origins on a Florida map designated.

disappointing visit
Dec 2019
We visited here at the end of December as we drove from Orlando to the St. Augustine area, arriving at noon-time. Our plan was to visit the art museum, have lunch in their café (raved about at TripAdvisor), and finish off at MOAS before moving on to our new hotel. We did enjoy the artwork here—a nice-sized collection of very nice Florida landscapes. We missed their entire top floor, however, because their guest elevator was out of order (and their staircase was too long for my bum knee). As it turned out as well, the café was unexpectedly closed for an extended holiday period. I guess they didn’t consider that many people travel over the holidays, and such facilities as onsite cafes are indeed appreciated.

So our visitor experience (all of 30 minutes) here was just average. Fortunately, we had better “luck” at MOAS (reviewed separately). Fortunately, too, our admission was free here through our NARM membership, as I would not have liked paying admission for just half the museum.

Celebrating Florida in art
Nov 2019
I spent a Friday morning here. It was super quiet with plenty of time to enjoy each piece of art. It fit in beautifully with the reading I've been doing lately - "A Land Remembered" and anything by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. If I'd seen this art (especially the mural at the beginning with native Florida plants) sooner, I would have been able to better visualize what I read. Here's to Florida!

Sunny Afternoon
Oct 2019
I visited on a Tuesday afternoon in October. It was a beautiful day and I hesitated leaving the Beach. I am glad I did.Besides myself, the only other people in the galleries were two security people. It was all most like they were following me. The Collection is very well presented and the Gallery space is about right for the size of the Collection. I was impressed that not only some major artist were represented but some of the very talented little Known were all so represented.. The only negative comment is some of the pieces framed in shell or scoop frames are shadowed across the top of the image. The Collection is dedicated to a Florida history theme and may be one of the great collections in that theme. If you enjoy good art and history then this collection is a must.

A wonderful Museum!
Sep 2019 • Couples
A beautuful museum featuring art showcasing the beauty and grandeur of Florida. Artist from all around the world over time came to Florida and painted landscapes, locations and people who where part of building the Florida we know today.
We highly recommend it and dont forget to enjoy lunch in the museum Honey Baked Ham cafe. A delightful experience.

Excellent Museum
Jul 2019 • Family
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. It has both permanent and touring selections. Two stories, and there is an elevator. The docents are very kind.

It's a bit removed from the main museum, however. You have to drive there.

Worth A Trip
Jun 2019 • Couples
This is a fine museum of Florida art. Some reviewers have called it small, which is misleading - for a single-subject museum it is actually quite large. Wonderful collection of Floridiana.

Everything is about Florida
Mar 2019 • Friends
This is a museum of Florida artists or art of Florida. It is well presented and a good time to spend a couple of hours on a day that you don't want to be outside. There are good signs associated with each piece. It is a varied collection of local (Florida) are as well as art by others about Florida. It also has a cafe with indoor/outdoor seating

Wonderful museum
Jan 2019 • Couples
An excellent setting, beautiful and intriguing art, a marvelous collection including, much to our pleasure, a Thomas Hart Benton (being from Missouri, one of our favorites). This collection is well worth seeing.
