Ryan Newman survived.

I was there for the 2020 Daytona 500, and witnessed Ryan Newman horrific wreck. This goes to show the precautions NASCAR has made to keep our drivers safe!

The race was postponed until Monday so we only saw the 20 lap race on Sunday. We could not stay in Daytona for another day as they were starting the race fairly late (4:00 PM) on Monday. The facility is nice, the crowd was good and the staff was friendly. We bought the Fanzone passes, but I didn't think they were worth the cost of >$400 for a family of 4. You didn't get anywhere near the drivers - there was a separate pass needed to get in the garage area - a Hot Pass - which I wasn't aware of. You can go to Pit Road, etc, but like I said I didn't think it was worth the cost and wouldn't recommend buying it. Also, be prepared to pay a lot to park. We paid $80 to park in the back of the Best Buy parking lot across the street - parking in the front of the lot was $120. There are less expensive options to park further away and take a shuttle bus, but we just wanted to walk to the track. Just be prepared to pay for that luxury. I don't know what parking in the track parking lots is like, but I had read it was very difficult to get out of those lots after a race so I wanted to avoid that. Overall a nice day that was shortened by the rain, but they can't control the weather. If you're a race fan I think you'd enjoy the event, but if you have a family it can easily cost you around $2k just to attend the race. Hotel prices in the area are crazy high for this event so if you want to stay a couple of nights that will cost you too...and then there's airfare...

Awsomeeeeee our first race from Wyoming. Warm temps. President Trump was there. Crowds but to be expected. Shuttle from parking lot did not happen. We prepaid parking for that. Food was good.

Rude abd Unpleasant Staff
Feb 2020
The race was great. The rain was an unfortunate circumstance beyond the r=tracks control. However the behavior of certain staff members made the start of Mondays return to the track an unpleasant experiuence. The gate to parking lot 7 was scheuled to opemn at 11:00 AM on Monday. When we arrive at 11:45 we were surprised no one was directing traffic. The cars in front of us were all parking in a parking area near the road. We parked in the same area with several hundred other cars. Most of the people went to the shuttle buses for the trip to the track. We, along with a few other patrons stayed in the lot to eat lunch. Cars continued to park n the same area until about a half hour later when someone arrived and started directing traffic. Shorly thereafter, someone, I think he was the supervisor, came by and told us we had to move our car or he would have it towed. When I asked about the severl hundred other cars who's drivers were already at the track he said angrily they are all going to be towed because the cars were facing the wrong direction. When we did not move immediately and told us if we didn't move our car it wouldn't be here when we retuned from the race. His unfriendly and threatening behavior started our day out on an unpleasant note. The 4 of us spent nearly $2,000 for tickets and were shocked that the staff would treat patrons in this way. In fairness most of the employees we interacted with at the track track and the shuttle bus drivers were very pleasant with most thanking us for returning for day 2 of the ran delayed race.

BUCKET LIST EVENT
Feb 2020
We attending the rain delayed 2020 event. Unfortunately we had to wait over two hours to get throught security the first day due to the presidential visit. He was far away and we coul dnot see him, Besides the inconvenience to ourselves and obviously large taxpayer expense, we will avoid any future event in which teh preseident visits regardless of who the president is,. Otherwise, the visit was great. The internet instruction and guidance was very informative. The faciliity is convenient - we had little traffic issues coing or going. However, the second day after the rain delay, most of the food and beverage vendors were closed at the track.

Class act all the way!
Feb 2020 • Couples
We attended the Daytona 500 and even though it was rain delayed until Monday it was still a great time. We’ll be there today for the rest of the race with hopefully no rain. The 20 lap rain delayed race on Sunday was extra special with the President and First Lady partaking in the opening ceremonies. The Darius Rucker concert was great and a real first class act. The facilities are excellent, with something for everyone. The Thunderbird fly over was amazing and the Patriotic atmosphere made the day extra special for this Army Veteran. I hope to be back a year from March for the Motorcycle events at Daytona. Highly recommend!

Tour of racetrack and museum at Daytona 500. Took my 18 year old grandson on this tour and we highly recommend. Price is very reasonable and tour guide was great. Went to infield and tunnel under track. Into the stands and ended at museum. Pictures made at winners circle. Good good day.

Daytona 500 NASCAR Race
Feb 2019 • Family
The 2019 Daytona 500 NASCAR Race at the Daytona International Speedway was my first such experience. I attended the race with my 12 year old grandson and young adult stepson. It was a FANtastic, thrilling time, from the pre-race activities, opening ceremonies, and start to finish (including overtime) race! The traffic congestion was a bit more than anticipated, but we allowed extra travel time on race day so we were in our seats in a timely manner. Our seating was great, with an overhanging structure for shade from the sun and with pit road in full view!
