We were very fortunate that someone told us about this place; otherwise, we may have missed it. What a wonderful opportunity to learn more about snakes of the world and the system of milking them for using their venom in anti-venom. In addition to the indoor exhibits, there is a nice, short trail that provides other animals for viewing. The... More

This is a great stop for kids! My boys especially loved it. Its right between Daytona and DeLand and it is something out of the ordinary if youre on vacation and looking for something to do.

I like the intimacy and dedicated staff. The educational value is better then in the large publicly funded zoos.

We had many age levels represented in our group. Everyone enjoyed and learned from the experience. I agree with the other reviewers, you must not miss the venom collection programs. Visit their website to get times and information.

I'm very afraid of snakes, but after this visit, my fright scale is not as high. The owner and staff know there subject and presented it in a very engaging way. The demonstrations were amazing. Those who wished to could hold or pet the snakes. I was content to just look. Excellent experience for people like myself who are afraid... More

Plan your visit around the venom extraction demonstrations! You don't want to miss this exciting and informative part of the discovery center. Call ahead to get the times for the day and then plan to arrive with 30-60 minutes either before or after the demonstration, depending on the interest level of the people with you. There is an outdoor discovery... More

I have been to RDC many times and have taken my students several of those times. Where else can you see 1000s of venomous snakes having their venom carefully extracted by an expert? The venom show is well set up with a glass window so you can safely be a foot away from a cobra or rattlesnake. In addition to... More

This is a real hidden gem. They have a good collection of reptiles, but the jewel in the crown is the venom collection display run by Carl the owner. His level of sincerity and passion shows clearly, and he's keen to share his world with you and it shows. Due to his gentle demeanor, he actually convinced my wife that... More
