A little history preserved in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

A little different type of house than expected. Fairly basic block construction from the 1920's but lots of artwork and murals painted by the owner, Frederic Bartlett. With... read more

A little different type of house than expected. Fairly basic block construction from the 1920's but lots of artwork and murals painted by the owner, Frederic Bartlett. With guided tours, I found the story behind this property interesting. The volunteer guides were very knowledgeable and pleasant. The preserved woods and gardens right in the middle of high rise beach development made... More

Bonnet House is a gem near Ft Lauderdale. It has beautiful gardens full of Florida trees and flowers including orchids. You can walk the 35 acres or sit and relax near the water or visit the old large house and view the old furnishings and artwork. This is truly old, beautiful Florida. I have lived in South Fla all my... More

This house and museum are an oasis of calm along the busy Ft Lauderdale beach. The tour was wonderful and docents were very informative. While the museum focuses on the artwork of the owner and his wife, seeing his art studio, and how the family lived was amazing. Just wandering around the grounds makes you feel tranquil, as you are... More

Bonnet House & Gardens represent the last vestige of the original south Florida mangrove Eco-system. 35 acres that were developed as a winter haven for a wealthy Chicago family in the early 1900's. The house is fascinating and contains the original family furnishings along with the original artwork of the owner. We had a comprehensive tour led by a highly... More

I really enjoyed my visit to Bonnet House. Our guide, Herb, shared with us many interesting facts and anecdotes about the place, which is kept exactly as when it was built in the 1920ies.

Easy to find, and right beside Fort Lauderdale beach front. The house is spectacular, and kept in its original early 20th Century décor, full of quirky "nickbacks" that the owners had bought on their world wide travels, whilst the gardens were lovely, I could have wandered around for hours!

We enjoyed our visit to this extravagant house. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts about the owner's family history and about the history of the area. After a general tour we had another tour, which we had booked in advance. The Orchid Greenhouse tour runs only once a month and we we happy we could fit... More

We visited the gardens and house, loved it. You are giving a tour of the house with tons of historical information. You can roam around the gardens with most of the trees and plants have sings indicating what the tree or plant name is.

We went to the Bonnet House not knowing what to expect and found a miracle in Ft Lauderdale. It's the most beautiful house and gardens in the middle of the rampant development. The house is full of fine art and wonderfully quirky objects gathered from all over the world which come together to make an extraordinary living experience. I wish... More
