Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Carrie B is the way to go. Yeah you can do the river other ways..... but they are the best. Guides have it down. Snack bar on the boat as well , including wine and beer.
Factoid -- southernmost river in Florida. And yeah one that flows past all those rich folks' houses.

I love to boat along the intercoastal in Florida. The traffic is significant. You can rent a boat, pontoon or a captain with the ship to navigate the waters. It would help if you were very prudent when navigating the river. It was a pleasant experience.

The New River is a big draw to downtown Ft. Lauderdale. It follow along south of Las Olas Blvd and has fabulous multimillion dollar homes, condos and several restaurants. Pick a table on the water and have a carefree lunch and then take a boat to see all the beautiful homes and large trees. Hint: take the water taxi, much cheaper than one of the tourist excursions.

A beautiful venue for a full appreciation on the city of Ft. Lauderdale. Mansions, yachts, parks, restaurants, office buildings, etc. dot the shores of the winding river to bring the city to life. The water taxi is the best way to get the full picture with its routes extending up onto the Intracoastal Waterway. There are a variety of attractions at the taxi stops, including the River Walk, to experience city life.

If you park off of Las Olas you can walk west past fine dining and shopping until you reach Riverwalk. Head south toward the water and stroll along the New River. There are a couple of funky places where you can get great food and drinks right on the water. As you stroll farther east, you'll see beautiful boats parked along the sea wall, and more will pass lazily by on the water. This is a beautiful place to be around sunset, and you'll not want for a place to eat a great dinner.

Fort Lauderdale's New River is fabulous for tourists! If you take one of the many sightseeing cruises, you can see the homes of the wealthy but also the enormous variety of watercraft (from small boats to mega-yachts. You may even get to see some wildlife like various birds or even manatees!

There aren't too many places in the world where you can watch a 150 foot yacht sail right by you. This is one of them. There is a marina down river where many mega yachts dock for storage and refurbishing. If you sit at one of the open restaurants along both sides of the river, you can watch incredible ships coming and going. A truly unique experience.

If you have time, I would suggest a walk along River Walk, which is the the red brick promenade that runs along New River. It stars at Old Town and heads east to Stranahand House on Las Olas Blvd. You can walk east to west or west to east. New River was originally the first water way that catered to boat traffic in the early days of Ft. Lauderdale. This is before the Intercoastal Waterway was built. It was the hub of Ft. Lauderdale, and where Down Town was established. If you have a chance to go the the Discovery Museum, it's about a 50 yard walk to Riverwalk. Sunday late morning or early afternoon is a great time to go. There is always something going on.
Enjoy your trip. Ciao.

Great scenery on your casual cruise on the new river. See lots of expensive homes, historical homes, homes once owned by the famous and more. Lots of stops available for a quick bite to eat or have a drink. It's old Fort Lauderdale on the water.

Just like all of the others who have replied .... millions .. a good place to start is take a look at Zillow and you will see a wide range of prices. But do your homework .. some places are perfect out of the way but on the New River while others are in a very busy neighborhood and very noisy as Las Olas is right there.
