Wetlands rv'ing
Oct 2020
When we wanted to locate information on the Savannas Recreation Area RV Park, we could find very little. I learned that there are almost no good online pictures of the rv sites, no campground layout map from which to choose a site. You must call to make a reservation. No deposit is taken; pay when you arrive. A site is then chosen for you - you have no idea of what you are getting or where! Hopefully, the pics I’ve posted will help other campers.

We enjoyed our stay of 3 nights, in October 2020, with 20' travel trailer. It is a good place to stay, for the reasonable price. Beautiful location, very pretty wetlands; our site was at the water’s edge. Much wildlife: birds, squirrels, ducks. Great bird sounds! However, some of the park was flooded, including some campsites, and also the way to walk to the bathrooms/showers, necessitating driving over to them. The rv sites could use more gravel and leveling. Some of the site hookups are a long way from what they will be hooked up to. The ground next to the gravel on our site was still slightly muddy from previous rain. The location makes for an easy drive to town, markets, beaches, restaurants. We would stay here again.

I enjoy going there a couple of time a month as I live nearby, Nice place to walk and see Florida's nature. They have camping and can you can entertain your children there. It is a clean and safe environment for the family.

Nice Camping
Jun 2019 • Friends
Very nice RV/Camping area with plenty of wildlife on site. Small alligators, bunnies, many different species of birds frequent this area. The bath houses were clean but the shower water is too hot and is seemed there was no way to cool it down. Check in was easy and there is plenty of room for relaxing.

Special wetlands area
Jun 2019
This recreational area is barely noticeable as you drive down Midway Road near the Indian River. It has a small campground which seemed only half occupied the day I drove in. The large protected area is in fact teeming with wildlife from alligators to waterfowl of numerous kinds - Sand Hill Cranes, Blue Herons, White Herons - far to many to enumerate, but the preserve looks to be well managed, and the wildlife appear to be quite comfortable. The birds feed and fish with little notice given to the occassional human. There is also a dog park near the end of the road, and it is a peaceful place to walk the trails and shoot pictures of the many species. There is no admission for just driving in and visiting the park area - which is why it amazes me that so few people take advantage of its beauty and serenity.

Very Nice Park.
Jan 2019 • Couples
We did not camp there but went for the walk / trails. The main walking path is very pretty and about 1.38 miles one way. It does come to an end instead of looping around and you have to go back the same way. We also found a trail to a lookout tower . It was an enjoyable afternoon

Won't let you car camp here
Jan 2018 • Solo
I have an nv200 I have been using for camping. They would not let me camp there unless in a tent. I thought I made it clear that's what I had when I called. I had a tent but the weather turned cold and windy and it made me nervous the alligator infested canals are feet away. I also have a small dog. I ended up having to stay at a horrible motel 6 because of the misunderstanding. The place seemed very nice especially for RV camping though the area its near is industrial and rundown.

Good campground
Jan 2018
Third time here during the winter months and it’s pretty darn good. The roads and full hook up sites are packed sand and tend to hold rain water after it rains. Interior roads need to be filled in and smoothed out. I’m not a camper, I’m a traveler that stays in campgrounds on occasion. This place is a good value and location if you can get a reservation.
