We like history, so we enjoyed this fort. It has a really good cannon display. Nice view from the top of the fort of Key West harbor . There is a great park there, too, but we did not have a lot of time to explore the park.

It took me 2 days to find a real beach in Key West. I went here on my second full day in Key West. It was my favorite even though I ended up walking 2 miles from my motel (Google said 1.3 miles but that was to the entrance to the state park). The beach is nice--rental of chair was... More

We went to the park to snorkel but couldn't due to the rip currents and stormy ocean. This place was recommended by the locals to snorkel. It was a nice park with picnic tables spread out and plenty of beach area. We would definitely go back to spend the day.

We had no idea when exploring Key West by bike that we'd stumble on this beautiful park! While the entrance isn't too fancy and appears to be in an industrial area, it's worth the $2.50 we paid to enter by bike. We explored the old fort which had great views and historical information. A free tour was being led by... More

There is an initial entrance fee to get into The state park, I believe it was around $7. There's a fork and you can either go to the beach or the fort. If you live historic monuments and US history, you will love the fort. I would just recommend you go earlier before the heat of the day kicks in.... More

We enjoyed walking on the trails in the shade and walking through the waves on the clean sand. A great spot for a dip in the water and a picnic lunch. Go early and enjoy the best spots.

I am sure most tourists miss this gem. I prefer to arrive by bike but walking or driving can be done as well. The fort is a great place to tour for some history. The beach is a secret gem of the island and a great place to view sunsets.

This is a great family beach. There are extensive areas for sitting near the water either on sand or rocks. Fishing is allowed. There are benches and shady areas. The water views expand from the south to the west, so there is ample room for viewing boats coming and going. The entry fees are reasonable.
