Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My fiance and I booked a 1/2 day fishing trip and Anthony was our captain. It was an outstanding trip. My fiance caught her 1st fish ever on the boat!!! We hooked into a few sharks. We were able to pull 1 into the boat for a nice photo. Others were too big to land.
Anthony was excellent. Good to talk to and was a great teacher. He had no problems letting you cast and unhook your catch if your up to it. I know some trips in the past the captain would treat you like a child. Not Anthony, he let US fish. It was awesome and I would highly recommend Almost There charters for the novice and the most experienced anglers.

We booked a trip with Almost There this past weekend. It was my first Off Shore fishing trip & it was simply amazing!! Captain Anthony was awesome! He made every effort to make sure that our experience was great! Once the Mahi-Mahi decided to lay down (which btw, they are so much fun to catch!! Not to mention delicious!!), he brought us to a different site to fish for other sport fish! He was also great at pointing out sights & aquatic animals to us on the way out & back in. He is certainly excellent at not only fishing but making sure his clients enjoy the scenery around them. Highly recommend them!

We first found Almost There years ago and had one of the best experiences fishing in Key West. In May and against my better judgement, we were talked into using another charter, and were extremely disappointed.
Early October we returned to the Keys and booked a six hour trip with Almost There and had one of the best fishing experiences, ever. Captain Anthony was knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. We were treated like fishermen and not tourists. Oh yeah, and we caught Shark, Mackerel, Snapper, and hooked into Tarpon, Rays, Barracuda, and more. Don't waste your time going to Charter Row. Call Almost There.

Just returned from 4 days in Key West and spent one of those days with Captain Rob on a fishing charter. Rob made it a wonderful day out (catching a lot of fish helped as well!) I would recommend Almost There to anyone who would like to enjoy a day at sea and have a great time. Rob was very knowledgable and was very personable. Best day we had in KW

My husband is an avid fisherman and he took me and one of my girlfriends. We had a lot of constraints (sun exposure, sea sickness, types of fish) but Almost There worked it out for us to have an amazing day on the water. Anthony was our guide and he was very accomodating to the skilled and novice. He keep the day moving if we hit an area that was not getting bites, I highly reccomend Almost There. (Also, if you book them the day of your charter you get into the Key West Harbor Club too. So we got to spend time at the private pool, beach and The Club for dinner (and they cooked up our fish for us 3 different ways.) It was a great day all around! Thank you Anthony and Almost There!

Went on a back country fishing trip with CPT Ryan of Almost There Fishing Charter. We had an awesome experience. This was our first time back country. We caught Yellow Jack, Gray Snapper and a few throw back sharks. CPT Ryan was fantastic and knew where the fish were. We also caught catch and release grouper. Would go out with them again

Conditions were a challenge (dead calm, no wind, HOT!) but our guide was relentlous in pursuit of our target species. We have fished with many guides over the past 15 years but this was our first fishing trip in Key West so we did not know what to expect.

The concierge at our hotel booked this trip, thanks Chuck! My son had never caught a permit but on the last cast with the last crab, the fight was on and after 20 minutes and nearly running up onto the rocks of the jetty multiple times, Spencer finally landed his first permit! We also landed a 100 lb lemon shark, multiple barracuda, and the biggest mutton snapper we've ever seen.

We originally booked 4 hrs but had so much fun that we extended to 6 hrs. So glad we did or Spencer never would have gotten his permit. We'll

I used Almost There for a private fishing trip while I was on vacation in Key West. Unfortunately the day that i booked my trip for the wind was extremely high, like a constant 30-35mph the whole day! I originally booked an offshore fishing trip, but when I arrived that more Garreth, my captain for the day, told me it wasn't going to be safe OR productive to go offshore. But If I was up for an adventure we could still go out and "kind of hide from the wind" behind some of the local islands and still get some fishing in. I was definitely game, i wanted to fish! Because we were not going to be doing the offshore trip (which was more expensive than the closer to shore/backcountry trip) they offered to refund my difference between the cost of the 2 trips, which was great!. So we set sail. Because the wind was so high, the waves were very high and aggressive that day. But Garreth was great. He got us out to a more calm area that was near a shipwreck that was shelter for the fish. Again because of the waves it was very difficult to get the anchor to set into the ground. But Garreth kept at it till he was successful! He really worked for his money that day! lol. Once anchored, we chummed the water and started fishing! I couldn't believe how fast I was catching fish! I caught all kinds of different fish. I brought home 2 good size yellowjacks for lunch, which were very tasty! I also caught my first Barracuda!!! What a rush that was, fighting this guy! Truly an experience i will never forget!! We tried out a few other fishing spots also that provided a few more catches. All and all it was a fantastic fishing trip, despite the high seas and winds. This was a 6 hour trip and I lost count of how many fish I caught. I will absolutely be looking up Captain Garreth again the next time I'm in Key West! He was very nice, knowledgeable and just fun to spend time with. This fishing trip was worth every penny.
