Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First time for fishing like this and I loved it!! They have several different tours and they are very accommadating to your wants and needs for fishing. Our guide - Anthony - was amazing - ask for him!!!! How he spotted those fish ia still a mystery because we coudn't see any. Anthony gaave us all kinds of stories and information while we fished. And I DID catch a barracuda - after Anthony hooked it _ with another fish I caught!! Can't say enough about this place. We went a second day because we had so much fun the first time!!!

Captain Ryan took my husband (the real fisherman) and myself and two others out on a fishing trip of a lifetime. Capt Ryan helped us 'amateurs' with lots of advice and guided hubby to catching his first Barracuda and shark and many more species too.We all caught lots of fish, It was a brilliant day and lived up to all our expectations. We would thoroughly reccomend it. Thanks Capt Ryan, From the folks in the UK.

Booking this fishing trip with Almost There Sportfishing Charters was, by far, the highlight of our trip to Key West. My wife and I are inexperienced in fishing and were worried about going on a charter with lots of other people. Our concierge at our hotel recommended a half day with these guys, back country fishing, and boy was she spot on!

From the minute we arrived at the office, you knew you were being looked after. While we were checking in, paying, and getting info a man nearby kept interrupting the office head when she was speaking to us. Frustrated with his behaviour, she literally excused herself, took us outside, apologised for the rude behaviour of the stranger, and finished explaining to us how everything was going to work. The tone was set for the rest of the trip; we were priority #1 for the duration of our charter.

We had a unique fishing experience the day we went as the older captain, whose name I cannot remember (my deepest apologies) was training in a younger one who would take over his boat for the summer. This was a fantastic set up as it resulted in two equally as wonderful guys able to help the two of us, one on one.

The barracuda just weren't biting, so we moved onto tarpon, snapper, jack fish and eventually shark. We weren't exactly naturals, and aren't experienced in the slightest, so we had a few really big tarpon and jack fish get away, but oh man were the snapper biting! These guys knew of some incredible spots. The second your line was cast there was something on it, sometimes even bare hook!

The lesser highlight of our trip was fishing in a beautiful little back grotto - picturesque doesn't even describe it. Snapper and tarpon everywhere.

However, the real treat was going out and catching two sharks. I caught a feisty lemon shark, while my wife caught a bigger nurse shark. She was able to hold and pet the nurse shark, and to some extent the lemon shark as well, which was a really worthwhile experience.

We both got video of each other reeling in our shark, which was a lot of fun to upload to Facebook to show family and friends.

Overall, I couldn't recommend these guys enough. They never made you feel stupid or inexperienced. They welcomed questions and helped you out every time you stupidly cast your line into a tree or tried to catch a mangrove. Awesome experience.

We went out with CAPTAIN RYAN and h was super knowledgeable about fishing. We wanted to shark fish. He took us exactly where he knew they would be and we wrangled in 4 & 5ft sharks. Also we caught barracuda, snapper, & etc. He was wonderful we'd highly recommend him and WILL use him again!

We came from Myrtle Beach to have a little R & R before going back to school.. We wanted to catch a Tarpon but they had other ideas..not his fault if they not there.. We caught some sharks and other fish before the trip was over. He tried his best and that's all you can do. My dad is a Charter Capt. and we knew what to expect. Capt. Ryan tried his best and that's all we ask.. Thank you for a good day on the water. Come fish with us Ryan if you hit SC in Murrells Inlet on the Marshwalk, Shannon's Sport Fishing Charters. We are on Tripadvisor also.... Thanks...

We booked our Key West fishing experience via Sheraton Suites for Almost There Charters, and it was well worth the money. Captain Ryan Carter was well informed and super helpful. He knew exactly where to take us and how to catch the fish we wanted, as well as identify fish we were unfamilar with. He even helped us reel in 2 huge lemon sharks in the pouring rain. All around it was a excellent trip, because of our excellent captain. Thanks again, Ryan Carter!

This was a mother daughter trip to the keys and we did a morning trip and had an amazing time! Caught plenty of fish, some we never caught before and some we had but we never had a dull moment because of our captain. He kept us on our toes at all times, thanks for our amazing trip Captain Ryan Carter. We will be booking another trip with y'all again the next time we come down!

I can't say enough about Capt. Ryan! Dude hooked us on to a 35lb barracuda straight outta the gate! Me and my 2 boys got to fight this monster. He worked tirelessly to get me my tarpon which he did, but only after letting us stay out later than expected! He was fun to hang with, knowledgable & professional! I highly recommend you request him by name! Thanks, Ryan, from the Smook family!!

The day was beautiful we hooked up with a couple of tarpon. However, when you spend this much money for a "GUIDED" trip you expect a more personable guide. Steve Davis wanted us to feel incompetent and stupid. We have been fishing for many years but we wanted Key West to be the ultimate fishing experience. Didn't happen!
By the way no bathroom, music and a small amount of ice...plan on spending $500 to do all yourself.

Our hotel recommended we try Almost There and made arrangements for Captain Garreth to take us out fishing. We decided to try the reef and wreck trip. We caught and released so many fish I lost count as my husband and I realed them in. Capt. Garreth had a line in and when mine was empty, he handed me his to have the fun of the catch. Soooo much fun and excitement. We went home with iced ziplock bags full of filets of all sorts of different fish. We even got a few cooking tips to make our trip even better. Don't waste your money on other charters. This group has the staff and knowledge to make your Key West adventure perfect. I can't wait until our next trip!!!!!!!!
