This was an interesting drive with much to see, although the ocean view is really not the point of the experience. There are many places along the way to stop and shop or eat. Be prepared for all types of drivers and slow travel speeds....More

Just another highway traveling over the Keys with a few bridges sandwiched in. Only bridge that was special is the 7 mile bridge, other than that, just like riding on a highway.

I was pretty jazzed about driving down to Key West and cruising out over the water like I have seen in the movies. I was pretty disappointed to find that most of the highway is on land with a couple of bridges peppered in. It...More

We've made this trip many times over the years going back and forth to various keys and have always enjoyed it once we get past Card Sound and the top of the highway to Key Largo. That's when it opens up and you start to...More

This is a long highway through the Florida Keys. There are quite a few shops along the way, at various points. Be careful of traffic, as it can slow down or stop suddenly. With only 1 lane each direction for most of the way, there...More

The overseas highway offers scenic views but lots of traffic. There is also a lot of dead vegetation since Hurricane Irma came through last year.

Apologies for my very slow reply. Most of it (the southern part) south of Key Largo is delightful.

I believe the Florida Turnpike has tolls through Florida City which is the gateway to the keys. You might be able to avoid tolls by slower routes to Florida City. If you have a rental car you can buy a SunPass at Publix.
