We were lucky enough to pass on a free Open House morning and took advantage of a visit. The tour guide inside was friendly and knowledgeable and the house and gardens are lovely.

This historic old house provides an opportunity to escape from today's hustle and bustle and noise. The old furnishings are still in place and the rear yard and garden is a haven of tranquillity. The staff are welcoming and very informative about the history of the house. Recommended.

It's very hot and crowded on Duval St., especially when cruise ships are in. I saw a narrow entrance with a sign The Oldest House in Key West. We ventured in to a cool respite with gardens, shady palms, benches to sit and relax from the madness out on the street! You can tour the lovely house and it is... More

The exhibit is free (just ask for donations) and someone explains the history of the house and who lived there. Only 4 rooms, but there is an outside garden area along with the kitchen building.

Take the time to turn off Duval St and leave the present behind for a moment. The sheltered, beautifully maintained back yard is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the Duval St craziness. The house itself is very interesting and in great condition. The Docent was extremely helpful with all kinds of useful information. I could not imagine bringing... More

We had a little look around the oldest house in Key West as it was right on the main street, Duvall. It was interesting to see the photos of the original family and look at the furnishings. We are happy to give a donation to a historical building which asks for no entrance fee.
