Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was extremely small, with dirty run down chairs, tons of little kids everywhere. It's a wading "area". I would not call this a beach. The pictures of this long beautiful beach are extremely misrepresenting of actuality.

Don't plan to see a "real" beach. This was a tiny area packed with sunbathers even with clouds and sprinkles of rain.
I am biased because I visit the natural sugar white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle. I was disappointed with this beach!

The Simonton Street Beach was recommended by the hotel staff, and I had a terrific time there. The beach is run by the folks who have the sports bar on the property & they could not be nicer. People brought their own blankets, or sat in chairs. You can rent a lounge for $10, also. Great view, restful beach. Quite enjoyable.

This beach has been going through a transformation - a very good transformation. We tried to stop there today, but they had just received a huge load of sand and men were spreading it over the beach. Key West does not have good sand on the beaches, but this was very light colored and clean looking. It is the prettiest sand I have ever seen on this island. Obviously it was imported from the mainland. We were going to stop at Lagerhead's. Again, there was so much activity going on with the sand, some sewer and electrical work and work on the parking lot that we decided to give them a couple weeks to complete the project. The gulf water is a fantastic color there and it looks like it will be a very comfortable, small beach for people who want a calmer beach experience.

I have to agree with the other residents that have posted comments about this area. Don't go. I always tell our visitors to pay a few bucks and go to Ft. Zachary Taylor. It is a state park so very clean, great view, clean water because of the current, bathrooms, and a concession stand. But number one reason, by FAR, is the derelicts can't hang out there all day like they do at the public beaches. Yes, we have a large homeless population but they are not the ones I am speaking of. I'm talking about the bums that sit around wasted all day and can become very aggressive and volatile when they panhandle. Because of our great weather, these guys lay around the beach all day getting high and drunk and rarely need to seek shelter. This beach is one of their favorite places, next to Higgs. It isn't even much of a beach so it wouldn't be all that great without the bums. Mostly it is a boat ramp/dock. There are nice places to go but this isn't one of them, be forewarned.

We rode our bikes to this location to check it out and yes, a small little beach but nice sandy area to rent lounge chairs and umbrellas at $10 per person. Drinks and food accessible behind you at Loggerheads and a clean washroom.
Nice sandbar to wade out into and a pier to hang by if you want with a drink. A kiosk provided to book watersport activities.
We just had a few hours here to chill and went just before lunch in order to get lounge chairs to rent...it fills up fast in the afternoon.
Had nice drinks in the sun, swam and relaxed, had a crab cake sandwich form Loggerheads and later a man playing some nice live music came on the beach to entertain.
We were so relaxed by late afternoon and then went on to our evening activities but really enjoyed a quiet break here.

This is a very clean, well maintained concealed beach that wasn't crowded. We went here because the coast was experiencing an immense amount of seaweed washing up on the shoreline which made the beaches smell bad and not good for swimming/sunning, but we found this beach with reasonably priced chair rentals...a good snack bar and clean sand/water. It is small, but nice...feels like your own private beach nestled between two hotels.

Just two years ago, this public beach was not very nice and had no facilities. Now, the beach is lovely--well maintained and even has a snack shack with toilet! Mind you, the beach is tiny by normal standards, but rather typical for Key West. The owner of the snack shack is very friendly and trying hard. There are even umbrellas and chairs for rent now.
Be CAREFUL! If you don't walk to the beach, you will probably drive your car and have to pay for meter parking. By the "meter-maid," we were 6 minutes late to add money. Not sure their if clock is wrong or not, but we thought we got there in time. It cost us a $25 fine. It could have been a lot worse. Glad it wasn't a $100 fine.

Small but fun. Less rocks & seaweed than other beaches we visited on Key West. Relaxing & food bar was very good. This would be my first choice next visit..

I do believe you have the wrong beach, other Gwen, Simonton is tiny, perhaps you are referring to Smathers?

I believe your map is wrong. Simonton Beach is on the other end of Simonton. South Beach is on the south end of Simonton.
