Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are so many different aspects to appreciate about South Beach. What I love is not the beach itself but the pier at the tip that sticks out over the water with endless seas beyond. The view is amazing and every night I end up there letting my thoughts go. You can see South Beach, the Southernmost Motel and the whole area is excellent for pictures and simple relaxation. Note this is a bit away from the buoy and less touristy., Go at sunset or later and the sky and water is beautiful.

It was hard to find a beach to walk to to quickly sit around and relax a bit. This was a nice little gem at the end of Duvall. A resort beside it, it was definitely a place to have a quick dip and lay out without going too far. If not walking the other beaches are a bit far away. The water very swimmable.

Really great beach but it is small! Bring towels if you are not a hotel guest. Chairs/umbrella available to rent (i believe $10 each). Cafe is right next to the beach & there are drink stands a short walk away. Water was very warm and beautiful. We spent a couple of hours here! No problems with seaweed!

Nice, small beach, however we didn’t get to stay and enjoy it. We had a complimentary umbrella, towel, and chair card from our hotel, but there wasn’t a beach attendant anywhere on site. We waited and then finally asked the hostess at the cafe. She was also unable to locate them. So we walked back to our hotel annoyed.

This is just another of the points of interest that tourists are all told to come and check out. As a native conch, someone born and raised in Key West I can tell you that this isn't even a place that should be on your radar. Hard to find expensive parking and just and average point of interest are the 2 main drawbacks. This is my first trip back home in a while and things are getting so touristy here, much worse than before.

unless ur ok with the little ones swimming and/or building sandcastles as the topless sunbathing women lay out and go in the water at this particular beach in KW...of course my boyfriend loved all the different sized views!

Yes, there is a small strip of sand, but really, besides being next to the Southernmost point, this place is not worth the trip. This beach is very small and crowded. I couldn't find any facilities there. The water isn't very clean, and no lifeguard to warn you about the possibility of jellyfish or sharks. Way below expectations.

The only thing this beach has going for it is its location right at the end of Duval Street. It's convenient if you're just planning on hitting the beach between bars -- all the frat guys and tourists had that idea.
It's kind of smelly, seaweed-y and had murky water. Definitely the smallest & worst beach we went to! If you're looking to go to a beach in Key West, we would recommend Fort Zachary Taylor. (And maybe Smathers, we didn't get a chance to check that one out.) If you're willing to drive to find a great beach, Bahia Honda -- about an hour away -- is absolutely the way to go.

In my opinion the best kept beach in Key West and Fletcher (who looks after the sun beds etc) is so nice, he explains that there is cafe whereby you can get snacks/drinks etc. There is 2 cold water supply machines on the beach. Fletcher brings round frozen mange and frozen smoothies during the day, these are free to folk who have rented sunbeds. The Cafe/Restaurant is very good with great choice of menu - Breakfast is cheap and very good, lunch menu varied and evening menu also very good. This is a very popular location and we also got to see a couple of weddings on the beach while we were there in November 2012

My husband & I walked from Southard Street to the beach by 9:15am on Saturday Nov. 15th. It's about 7 blocks & my husband has COPD. We were carrying out beach umbrella, cold pak ice bag, school bag, everything to enjoy a couple of hours on the beach. We found a guy using a backhoe to rake the sand. He got off the backhoe & told us to get off the beach chairs because they are for paying customers.I told him we are waiting for him to get finished, he told me to get up. He then proceeded over to my husband(who has a hearing problem)told him to get up. The beach guys were told by this Man to get the 2 chairs at 9 am off the beach until they are rented. The Man should be reprimanded by his behavior. We are tourists. Why was he raking the beaching at 9am?What difference does it make if we are waiting for him to move to sit on these 2 chairs? He was just rude.He was holding us up from sitting on the beach, from getting breakfast.

Is clothing optional in this beach? Was shocked that a lady took her top off. Kids all around. Didn't see any signs saying it was optional.... yikes!

It is a private beach and has European rules for sunbathing. It is not clothing optional but does allow topless; just like all of Europe and most everywhere except US public beaches.

is this beach within walking distance of the port? and what is the average cost of a bottle of beer here ?
Written 16 November 2015
30 min walk. Does it really matter what a beer costs?

Hi Lindsey!
I was impressed by the variety of things you did, while in Key West...and would like to do many of the same things. The Smallest Bar looks cool...as well as The Garden of Eden. If I'm going to be that far from home...I'm looking to see things we don't see here in PA! Lol! Any other suggestions for crazy nights? The funny part...I'm just as excited to see the Butterfly Conservancy and Hemingway's house, so I'm all over the board with what I want to do!
