The island of Pigeon Key is a historic 5-acre island located in the heart of the Florida Keys! It was once the home of over 400 workers who built the Overseas Railway from Miami to Key West. Today, the island is operated by the Pigeon Key Foundation, a 501(c)-3 not for profit organization. Our Visitor's Center, which is the address listed, is where our daily historical tours depart from at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. We also operate a Marine Science Center on the island, school groups from all over the world come to Pigeon Key to be immersed in the ocean environment found right around the island. Visit our website or call our gift shop for more information about taking a tour!

This is great for anyone who loves history! The 15 minute boat ride was so enjoyable and beautiful! There are copies of pictures and models of the building of Henry Flagler’s railroad bridge from Marathon to Key West. Dormitories still exist.

You're able to see the type of housing and lack of amenities during the 1930s and devastation done by many of the hurricanes that took away workers and housing.
