The island of Pigeon Key is a historic 5-acre island located in the heart of the Florida Keys! It was once the home of over 400 workers who built the Overseas Railway from Miami to Key West. Today, the island is operated by the Pigeon Key Foundation, a 501(c)-3 not for profit organization. Our Visitor's Center, which is the address listed, is where our daily historical tours depart from at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. We also operate a Marine Science Center on the island, school groups from all over the world come to Pigeon Key to be immersed in the ocean environment found right around the island. Visit our website or call our gift shop for more information about taking a tour!

Nothing to do here - unless there is a community event. If you bring your kids they will date you. If it's a hot day, definitely don't go - there is no A/C area available to tourists. Basically it's a bunch of camp-like cabins where...More

Hi Karen666, I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your trip to Pigeon Key. The island is typically pretty warm due to its location but we are surrounded by beautiful turquoise water that is delightfully refreshing! If you decide to give Pigeon Key...More

We hadn't planned to visit Pigeon Key but we were so pleased we did. The tour to the island is so worth it. The volunteers have so much information to share about the 7 mile bridge (old and new). There was only the two of...More

We took the tour to Pigeon Key. We really enjoyed the laid back style as we learned a lot and didn't feel like we were back in school. There were only 2 other couples on our tour and there was plenty of chances to ask...More

Right smack in the middle of the world famous "old" 7 mile bridge, this is a part of the historic Florida Flagler Railroad to Key West. Visit while you can and bring a picnic lunch, guaranteed a great day.

DENNIS J, we were on the same tour you were. You were not the youngest of the tour as we are 29 & 30 and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The way you stormed in the visitors center and talked to the sweet elderly lady running...More

You can spend an entire day wondering around this tiny island and taking in all of the history here. Bring you snorkeling and bathing suits, it is a beautiful place to jump in the water, too!
