Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don’t waste your time in this speed trap, parking meter infested little spec on the A-1A. You have to pay to park everyplace you go and if you’re 10 seconds late, or heaven forbid you didn’t know that you have to pay EVERYWHERE, the meter maid in the tree jumps down and gifts you a citation as a souvenir. Nothing is cheap here either. Save yourself and drive into the next town, and don’t go over 30 mph!

The pier is not usable, something we didn't learn until we got there. The shops are mostly restaurants and jewelry stores. Cute town though. But, beware of parking! We paid up front for 2 hours of parking at a lot about 1/4 mile from the beach, and stayed for less than 2 hours. We got home from our trip and found a charge on our credit card for just over $101 dollars! There seems to be no way to reach a live person with whom to discuss this. I would just avoid this city. Not worth it.

I overheard a guy at the beach here say that the two LBTS tennis courts (in Friedt Family Park) are not open to visitors, so I asked him how he learned this information. He said the people at the Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Center told him. I asked them myself, and got the same response.
Happily for tennis players, this is fake news. In fact, the town rents keys to the courts on a yearly basis to property owners and hotel operators who desire access to them. The property owners I/family have rented from for the past four years have done that. We've met many visitors who have done the same thing - or stayed at a hotel that offers that perk.
Unhappily for tennis players, playing on the courts from 7a-11a during the winter is difficult on most days. A cabal of men and women developed a system years ago to keep anyone not in their group from playing when they want to play - and convinced the town manager to rewrite the rules to sanction that system.
Although LBTS is a very inclusive, visitor-friendly town in most respects, they don't like to share their tennis courts!

We visited the chamber of commerce to find brochures on various activities in the area. We found many booklets, maps, and coupons.
Since the brochures are not available in grocery stores or other places, we were happy to find the chamber.
The person hosting asked if we had any questions and how she could be helpful.

We lucked out in having the Chamber of Commerce across the street from our motel. We stopped by within hours of our arrival to LBTS. The woman working was incredibly helpful and gave us a lot of info on the water taxi, the Pelican Hopper and showed us the many brochures on things to do in town and the area. She was so nice, and all of the information she gave us was put to good use!

Visiting a information facility can be overwhelming at times. The LBTS Chamber of Commerce staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. They knew where the right brochure was for Amusements or Hotels you were interested in. Additionally the staff seemed to have an abundance of information about modes of transportation available to efficiently travel within Ft. Lauderdale and LBTS.

Is there parking available for weekend visitors?

I will be in LBTS in a few weeks, and plan to play tennis while there. Does anyone know if the 'Bougainvilla Bullies' at the Friedt Park tennis courts are still making life miserable for visitors who try to play there?
Written 24 January 2019
Hi, Daydream!
Sadly, the situation at the LBTS courts has worsened in the past year. The bullies added bigotry and racism to their repetoire.
To make matters worse, the LBTS Town Manager decided to rewrite the tennis court rules to specifically enable these folks to exclude everyone but themselves. Obviously, he and the Town Commissioners support that kind of behavior.
If you're still around, try the George English Tennis Center in Ft Lauderdale. They respect tennis players there!
