Been enjoying this one way drive for 13 years , and seen no manner of animals over the years, gators, wild pigs, bobcats, eagles, rasy spoonbills. .

Great auto tour route through refuge land. Each month makes for different sightings. Many wading birds and ducks today. And also gators abound.

I reviewed the whole reserve but we loved this drive, we drove then walked then drove some more saw so many amazing birds, alligators.. such a wonderful day, highly recommend if you love birding..

down from Indiana. its a really long drive out in the middle of the marsh/swamp in the refuge. make sure you have plenty of gas in the tank. lots of mangroves with exotic birds and gators about. palm trees along the road. lots of people...More

The drive is around an impounded salt water marsh. Observe from car or from multiple stops. Lots of wading birds and shore birds. Very worthwhile especially paired with Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. $10 fee which can be paid on site or at the Wildlife Refuge...More

we have visited all times of day , we enjoy sunset best but to see more animals early in morning can be better. Gators like sun.

I did it in a mini van. wasn't all that bad. plus everyone goes really slow. shouldn't be a problem at all. don't remember many pot holes.
