- Nektarios32Chios, Greece53 contributionsA very nice place to visit with the kids close to the cruise terminalI visit the museum on April with my wife and son. The museum is very close to the cruise terminal we visit the dinosaur theme where we see many full size dinosaur. We went to the space theme and view the movie in the cinema which is a mast see experience.( You will be probably get dizzie. It is not for recommended for below 4 years old child.) We visit the flying theme where we see from flying dinosaur to space ship and the aquarium theme where we visit the outside aquarium located on the top of the building and my son was able to touch a live stingray. The restaurant was very average. You will need nore than 3 hours in order not to be rushed. The day we visit there where many schools so if you have a change to visit a weekend it would be better.Hello, thank you for visiting us with your family. - TravelingOYEsterPalm Beach, Florida388 contributionsExtremely expensiveWe had an OK time. I think the challenge was how crowded it was so we had a tough time seeing / touching / experiencing all the place had to offer (and my kiddo is terribly shy and needs his space). For $65+ for entrance fee for 1 adult and 1 child + $18 parking + $28 for a hot dog and sandwich (I skipped the $6 bottled iced tea) - this was too much $ for 1.5 hours (including the 20 min wait to get the hot dog). Maybe we will try again when it isn’t ‘peak’ time. Sadly, disappointed.Hello, we are sorry to hear you found the museum to be too busy to experience everything we had to offer. Usually, we suggest to guests that they allot at least 3 hours when planning their visit to fully explore the museum, especially as the holiday season is one of our busiest times. We do hope that you and your young scientist give the museum another chance soon.Written 4 January 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 December 2023
- Bamabelle2023Washington DC, District of Columbia137 contributionsAwesome!! Loved it!!This was great! They had an aquarium that added an awesome aspect to it. There shark exhibit was really cool as well. Would recommend having a reservation for a show at the planetarium because it was pretty interesting. The parking is only 18 dollars but you have to get there early if you want to get a spot but this was on a really busy day so it might differ on a less busy day. Some of it is sort of outdoors so it might be really hot in the summer. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area!Hello, thank you for visiting the museum. - dragonflyfrisbeeDuluth, Minnesota498 contributionsGreat for kids of all agesThis was the perfect size museum for young kids. They were able to walk it no problem just needed a stroller at the end. The planetarium was fun and included in admission! We originally were going to the sea aquarium but hearing of its closure we chose this. The aquarium portion the kids lived. Lots of interactive exhibits the kids loved seeing like a hammerhead shark. The gift shop could be better that was our only disappointment. We found some great books but they were only in Spanish.Hello, thank you for visiting the museum with your family. - HoopiemomNewton, Massachusetts42 contributionsFun for a rainy day.Good museum for the family. Not a lot of differently focused exhibits, Focus for us was mainly the space exhibit. We also spent some time in the aquarium. We went through pretty quickly with the kids ages 9 and 11, but we followed their lead. Museum could use a little modernizing but otherwise fun exhibits.Hello, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your experience. It was a pretty packed day when we went as it was during the Christmas school vacation.
There is lots to see. My highlights were the aquarium and planetarium. Make sure you have comfortable walking shoes. There are food options there if you get hungry and parking isn’t to far around the corner if you arrive at the museum the lot is full.

Interesting and well-presented displays and interactive demonstrations, especially of machines and mechanisms, and good display about evolution of flight.
Excellent aquarium - you can view schools of fish, rays and sharks from below, and other fist, corals and jelly fish in special tanks.
Did not go with children but would think that 5-10 year olds would really enjoy it.

We had a great day at the Frost museum. Its much better with kids, our childen 3-8 years old had a blast. There really is lots for kids to do here, 6 floors, the aquarium is kind of small but was well laid out. Lots of cool exhibitions, you can spend a full day here. Loved the observation deck on the top floor as well. For parking, its $15 to use the museum parking lot all day, downtown Miami is very expensive for parking, so its a good deal allround. There is a metro station right next to the parking lot, so you really make a day of it in Miami if you wish to.

This is a nice place to visit and kill some time if it's a rainy day or you have kids. Having been to some amazing science centers in other places, we were underwhelmed and would not call it a "must-see" place. There were some interesting exhibits, but the whole place is spread out in an odd way that made it a little difficult to find all the areas on each floor. The planetarium show was interesting, and we enjoyed the aquarium exhibits.

We had a great time. The mirror maze was a lot of fun and the planetarium was mind blowing. There are 4 different shows in the planetarium and multiple showing of each. A lot of hands on activities as well. There was an electronic dance floor that lites up with a mega screen that you can see yourself on which our son really loved, especially when the dinosaurs walked past. The aquarium and sea life is a very large portion of the museum but no complaints there, it’s well kept and a great variety of sea life.

Lovely museum in excellent surroundings. The aquariums, particularly the Occulus, are truly spellbinding. Our only criticism is that some of the interactive items are not working and some of the items in the Everglades section had pieces missing and this is very early into the museum's life.
The shop is well stocked but the items are a little pricey.

I went to this museum on a rainy day with my dad. The museum is definitely FOR CHILDREN under 10 years old. This should have been advertised more because it definitely diminished our experience. The different experiences are pretty cool and I bet a kid would love it.
I found a major problem with the cafe. Me and my dad waited 40 minutes for overpriced, cold, minimalistic food. There was nowhere to sit because of how busy it was and no-one wanted to help.
I would NOT recommend for adult only parties. Fun for kids I suppose. Do not go in the Cafe.

Adults, 3yr old, and 9 year old all enjoyed spending 3 hours here, not even seeing the whole place! The indoor/outdoor layout of this museum is unique and wonderful! We didn’t feel like we were visiting a museum but rather having a natural science experience in Miami. 3 floors of aquarium were fabulous and the dinosaur section was interesting. Lots of things to do and see within each area. Kids will not get bored.
They have an attached indoor parking lot, but very small and expensive. We couldn’t get a spot there but found nearby street (metered) parking easily.
The 1 cafe has lots of food options and seating, but lines were u too long for us to try it (visited on a rainy day during spring break, so very crowded).

The Frost is a good destination that is accessible by the Mover transit system. The tanks are filled with a large variety of fish including hammerhead sharks, other sharks, and numerous tropical fish. The planetarium has scheduled large overhead screens. We saw as special named Journey to the Stars. It was informative and entertaining. Be aware that the entrance ticket plus the extra charge for planetarium costs $30-40 dollars. The restaurant is good.

Hi, I am visiting the museum on a sunday morning. I intend to park the car in the parking lot close to the museu. I understand you provide limited spots and as long as the museum opens 10 am, what is the best time to get to the parking lot so I can find a spot?
best regards

Is there a coat/baggage check? We would be coming from a cruise and would like to visit the Museum before going to the airport, so we'll have our all of luggage with us.
Written 22 January 2020
Yes, there was one downstairs as you enter when we visited a couple or months ago. I am not sure if there are policies regarding size and number of items to be checked in.

Are you allowed to bring a water bottle or packaged snacks into the museum?
Written 11 July 2019
Hello,
Yes you may bring water bottles and snacks. One good option we had was, getting there early a finding parking inside Museum Park (these are very limited) parking is directly right as soon as you get to the museum.
We left the snacks in the car and had a picnic at the park. Your ticket allows you re-entry into the museum. The kids ended up having more fun running around the park than the museum.

What sort of exhibits with sharks are there?
Written 19 January 2019
They have a large tank that can be viewed both from the surface and from a viewing area underneath. In the viewing area underneath, there are also other interactive exhibits related to sharks
