The Ball & Chain opened in 1935 on the Trail, now known as Calle Ocho. Over the next two decades legendary artists of the day graced our stage, including Billie Holiday, Count Basie, and Chet Baker. The legacy of the Ball & Chain continues in September 2014 as the doors reopened in Little Havana once more.

Probably a good thing they had to close at 4:00 for a private event, or I would have stayed a long, long time . . . that should be self explanatory. One of the best spots I have ever visited. That simple. Be sure to...More

The vibe there is amazing. The live band is great, the food is good and you can even play dominoes while listening to the music. The people go there to unwind and have fun.

If you are visiting Little Havana and you should when visiting Miami make a point of having a taste of Cuba in this eatery. Great food. Great staff. Melly a young lady from Nicaragua looked after us on our four hour lunch. We chose to...More

Excellent place for a cocktail and small bites to eat. The atmosphere and the jazz group was superb. Really enjoyed our time here and the oyster bar 400 yards away was an added bonus.

2 for 1 cocktails - I must admit that was a draw, add that to the live Jazz band and the girls in traditional costume and that sealed my fate. A 'happening bar' in the Cuban district with a history of live appearances of well...More

We went in to try their cocktails after reading good reviews. We were disappointed. We paid $23 for two very small cocktails that had very little alcohol content. Not impressed. I'm not sure why people rave about this place. Mediocre to say the least.

We had a fabulous time at Ball & Chain. Its a great location on 8th St. We sat outside in their back patio. It was a great spot to hang out with friends and enjoy several cocktails. The service was great.

It is one of those places that is worth going in for a drink, absorbing some music, feeling a bit like you are part of the local Little Havana tradition. The back has some wonderful space for private and group shindigs.

There was music while we were there during the day, but it was a jazz type band. I think at night they have livelier music, perhaps salsa. It's a restaurant type place so kids were allowed when we were there during the... More
