Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My family and I planned to spend the last evening of our 5-day stay in Miami at the South Beach Escape Room on Friday, 7/24/15. We booked and paid $84 for the Panic Room experience. We read the reviews and were excited, until we showed up to an abandoned building. We went to the building, used the code we received through email and went up to the 4th floor 10 minutes before our scheduled time. We also walked outside to the balcony around back to see if we could get in that way. There was no one in the building at all. No workers, no other customers, no one. It was a very seedy looking building and it appeared to be a scam. No one would answer the phone numbers associated with this so-called experience. After I sent an email complaining, I was assured that my money would be refunded to me. Apparently the building was forced to shut down for a few days because of a leak. Things happen, but the lack of communication is completely unacceptable. I will never get that last night in Miami back.

I have visited a dozen escape rooms across multiple countries and would rate this one as "average". First off, upon entering the establishment, there was a notice on the door stating that the company had a certain number of days in which to get their building up to code. That was a little worrying to start with... but let's talk about the room.

Myself and 4 other people did The Panic Room. The room itself was very bare bones and unfinished. There were particle boards that were unpainted, homemade PVC contraptions, and lamps and other accessories with the tags still on them from when they were purchased (e.g. SKU 54831) which was distracting from the game because you didn't know if those numbers were to be used or not. It was still an entertaining experience, although frustrating because of the lack of creativity (the room was on "lock overload"). The game master was hard to hear on the walkie-talkie and when we would ask for a clue, she asked us to tell her what we had completed last in order to get the clue. (By the way: There are cameras in the room so that they can tell what you have/have not completed. I've never been asked what I last completed before, the game master is supposed to know. It's also hard to remember what you did last when you are frantically searching through the room for clues!)

It seems that a lot of companies are jumping on the escape room bandwagon lately without putting the quality into their games that they should. Escape rooms aren't creating some puzzles and buying some locks. It's the entire storyline, the modern and varied puzzles, and great game master skills/customer service. I think South Beach Room Escape has the right idea, they just need to step up the quality of their games/establishment to provide participants with the best experience possible.

P.S. I received an email after my visit requesting me to leave a review. The email also contained a link to my "group picture" on their Facebook group. Our group was never asked to take a picture. :(

An excellent way to spend an evening in South Beach. It's tricky to find so call first to not miss your slot. It's fantastic for literally everyone and anyone!! I highly recommend it.

I've done 5 other Escape Rooms and this one was by far the worst. It's very low tech and doesn't immerse you into an environment. The helpers also use walkie talkies which you can hear on the other side of the door when they answer etc...... For someone thats never done an escape room, you might like it and its still fun but for veterans this one is pretty bad. The 'Miami Fox In a Box' escape room is incredible compared to this. I suggest the ownership of this place visit some of these other locations and upgrade these rooms.

I'd start with black out shades/boards over the windows in the room so you can't see South Beach.

Thank you Michael AGAIN for your feedback! As we already explained to you, our escape rooms are first and second generations and the goal is to create puzzles where the players use their imagination and brain to figure things out. Also, this space has not been an apartment before as you have accused us of this in your first review. We actually had to put a lot of investment into creating it into this space as it is now.

3 of us (mom, 2 teenage boys) did the Black Ops escape room. It was excellently planned and so clever and original. Our family loves escape rooms and have done many; this one was our favorite. In addition, Isa was so lovely and excited to have us there, it made the experience even better. Go and have a blast! We are going back to do the Diamond Heist before we go home!

First time we have visited any escape room but always wanted to try and glad we have.

The staff here are friendly and chatty and the place is fab.

Only me and my husband were here but we had a great time working out the clues - albeit very frustrating and we had to get the old grey matter working again!!

A fab couple of hours away from the beach.

We like to find an escape room to do with our kids every time we go on vacation and we believe South Beach Room Escape is one of the best we've tried anywhere in the country. I emailed in advance to ask if there was one room in particular they recommended for us to do since our 9 and 6 year old are younger than the usual recommended age for Escape Rooms. They responded almost immediately suggesting that we try their Diamond Heist room and offering to make it a private room for us since we had 6 people in our group. This is considered a "sequential" room which means there's a certain order you're supposed to find clues in, which we prefer to rooms in which there is no order. Although we did need to get a few clues when we got stuck, we escaped with just 0:38 seconds left on the clock. On a day where we spent over $800 taking the kids on an airboat tour of the Everglades and a private zoo tour, they both agreed the escape room, which was three times cheaper than both was their favorite activity of the day. I would highly recommend South Beach Room Escape to anyone.

Lots of fun when the weather doesn't allow you to be outside. A fun, interactive and challenging activity - do it if you have the time!

This was easily the best part of our vacation, and we had no idea that QQuest existed before we got to Miami. We loved it so much, we went back two days running, and did both rooms. We are a family of 4 with 13 year old twins, and we did this as a four-some. Incredibly entertaining, very well thought out, surprises at every turn. It is very surprising to see who made the break through on each of a myriad of problems to solve. If you are a puzzle solver, an amateur sleuth, a Sherlock Holmes wanna be.... you have to try this. We had a blast.... twice!!!

We've been to quests in different cities and countries, and this one was one of the best!

First we were doubtful about idea of taking the quest together with some random people as it is very hard to imagine something like this in Europe. But then we did it and liked it a lot:)

Very-very recommended!
