We had some family visiting from Europe and wanted to take them to see some Florida wildlife in their natural habitat, so we booked a 2 hour Dora Canal cruise. Captain Ray and Rob the narrator show us a pair of nesting Bals Eagles that took flight just as we were leaving their area, what a sight to see these... More

Our group of six traveled to Mount Dora, FL to The Rusty Anchor. Our reservation was for the 2-3 hour boat tour through the Dora Canal. Capt. Ray Mathews and mate, Mike Clark provided information to us, the passengers, as we sailed along. History of the area, stories and surprises were all part of the tour. To hear about some... More

We went on the 2 hours boat on the lake then the canal. It was very enjoyable and well worth the money. We did not see alligators but saw plenty of bird life. The crew were friendly and made us welcome and were eager to answer our questions. The crew don't have facilities for credit cards so best to book... More

This was a nice trip in the smaller of the boats with just 2 of us on board. I found Scott (the Captain) quite informative and willing to slow or stop if something interesting was seen. August, and the heat that comes with the month, is probably not the best time for viewing the wildlife. All the same we saw... More

A very relaxing boat tour of the lake and the canal. Loved the canal and seeing all the homes along the canal and the lake. Our granddaughters loved the trip and also seeing the alligators, turtles, birds and bald eagles. I loved the 100 plus cypress trees!

We took 2-hour Dora Canal tour mid afternoon on a very hot day...even for Floridians, it was oppressively hot-about 100. There is no ticket booth; money or pre purchased tickets are taken on the boat. It leaves from the dock at the end of Fourth Street. There was a nice breeze off the water and we watched a seaplane land... More

Sadly not one of our favorite trips. The boat was dirty and uncomfortable with long thinly padded bench seating running down the sides and a metal middle row. If you are seated you face other passengers not the view. There are tiered railings around the boat which obstruct your view unless you are standing. The Captain did not speak more... More

Made reservations on line. But tickets were available there as it was off season. The boat ride was good, really enjoyed going down the canals. boat captain and crew were excellant. They pointed out the wildlife, made sure we saw it, allowed those of us taking pictures time to do so.

Understanding that you cannot control mother nature, we were disappointed with the wildlife that we saw on our boat ride. The canal was very pretty. The seats on this pontoon boat run along the sides and one bench down the middle. Not a comfortable way to view the canal. Next time I would choose a pontoon boat with front facing... More
