I am a larger person who loves to travel and likes to know ahead of time if I can physically do the activity beforehand so I can plan accordingly. I wasn't sure about the electric boat ride. The volunteers were super friendly and told me to "go check it out" first. I was skeptical about whether or not I could... More

For a nominal entrance fee (or free with membership) you can check out the Discovery Center, visit the Wildlife Hospital and exhibits, walk the nature trails and take a 45 minute electric boat tour, narrated by one of the many Conservancy volunteers. Great experience for both children and adults.

What a wonderful place. We thought we would only be here an hour, spent 3 hours exploring and enjoying. The staff is so very conscious of water conservation, so important to FL. Enjoyed all the "shows", a great boat ride on the river and a low key venue. They have done a wonderful job with the critters and environment. Hats... More

Great place to bring the family. A variety of nature programs. Fantastic narrated boat ride on the Gordon River. the captain explains the importance of the mangroves. You might even get to see a manatee! There is a viewing tank with native fish and a "touch" display. The staff are well informed and eager to answer any questions.

Pleasurable Visit, Educational too! Many exhibits with interesting things for children and adults of all ages. The electric boat ride on the Gordon river was the high point. We were impressed throughout the visit, and especially the knowledgable volunteers working there.

We attended two events: Raptor and Reptile discussions. We also took the electric boat ride and saw lots of birds, including two Yellow Crested Night Herons that we had not seen before. The Raptor docent fed a Yellow Tailed Hawk and weighed it. She also weighed a screetch owl while carrying on a discussion on both birds. We found the... More
