About
Our founders, the Thompsons, connected over a mutual love of animals, and thereafter discovered an unknown breed of horse, developed by British Gypsies, while traveling through the English countryside. After a four-year journey to understand these horses and the culture that created them, they took part in naming them, the Gypsy Vanner horse. The Gypsy Gold Farm is home to the first 16 registered horses of a breed that's now 6,000 animals strong with registries . Their 40-acre farm is a Central Florida Trip Advisor favorite, education and cultural oasis, where visitors learn about one of the most colorful and least understood societies on earth and the magical Vanner Horses they envisioned. Farm tours are available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 10:00 am and last for two hours. Tickets may be purchased on our website.

My wife and I have vacationed in Florida for over 10 years. Gypsy Gold Farm is the absolute best $40 to $45 (each) attraction we have ever attended. To start our tour, we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful talk by farm owner, Dennis, that was entertaining, informative and at times funny. Then we were lead by a nice, young lady to meet the "stars", the beautiful Gypsy Vanners, on a short, but informative walking tour. We took many pics that we will treasure forever and enjoyed feeding our carrots to these wonderful creatures. If you are anywhere near Ocala, Florida, DO NOT MISS the Gypsy Gold Farm!!

What a nice surprise for not knowing where I was headed! The owner of this farm has the best "history lesson" of this amazing breed, as he should since they were the ones who found them and brought them to the United States! Very nice people whos love for this breed and the traveling people that are responsible for this breed, is clearly seen. The tribute and respect for them is heartfelt and admirable. You won't find better specimens of this breed. They are absolutely gorgeous!! The walking part of the tour is not difficult and you get a photo op with the horses. It was a wonderful 2 hours and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future of this farm! I'll definitely be back!

Even if you are not a big horse fan, you will really enjoy this tour. Dennis, the owner, provides an insightful & often humorous discussion of his journey to be the first to bring these beautiful creatures to the US. Afterwards, be takes you on a walking tour of the farm where you can pet the Gypsy Vanners, their foals, mules, goats and yes, even parrots. It is well worth the price of admission and a couple hours of your time.

Saw an ad for Gypsy Gold and decided to check it out. Ocala is the "Horse Capitol of the World" but it is difficult to find a place that lets you get up close and personal with the horses. The farm is beautiful and the horses are magnificent. You are allowed to bring treats to feed them and Dennis gives an informative and interesting history of how the breed came to be recognized in America. This is a must see if you are in Ocala.

This is the second time I have visited Gypsy Gold Farm. Upon arrival it is a peaceful, welcoming place with acres of fenced pastures and beautiful horses grazing happily. A closer look reveals why this is such a special place. We are greeted by Mr. Thompson, an amazing man who tells us of the history of the Gypsy horses in great detail and how he Gypsy Gold Farm came to be. It was so inspiring. Mr. Thompson is a very special man with a great sense of humor and a love for what he does. He is dedicated to these horses. The tour was so informative and it was fun walking the paths, petting these beautiful friendly horses and even seeing newborns who love to be around you. The kids even got to sit on a Gypsy Gold horse for pictures. They also have mules, donkeys and parrots to enjoy. If you love horses, don't miss seeing Gypsy Gold Farm. It was a wonderful visit thst you won't forget.

The owners of the farm are so interactive and friendly. The story of how these wonderful horses came to the U.S. is so full of twists and turns. You learn their history and then go out and pet and feed them along with the mule moms. A nice family outing for older children.

The location is just fabulous, the owner is a real treasure with his history and story. The Horses, are a site to behold. So beautiful, graceful, and very friendly. Walking the grounds with the owner relating the wonderful names he has given the horses is fun-filled and enchanting. I keep returning with visitors just for an excuse to return again. If you love beautiful scenery and a wonderful narrative by the founder, don't miss it.

The horses and mules are very friendly. I have been a fan of the Gypsy Vanner horses for a long time so it was nice to hear the story of how they came to be in the United States. The owner is a good storyteller. I recommend visiting this farm.
