- TofurryRenton, Washington1,066 contributionsMust do in Animal Kingdom! To us, Animal Kingdom feels less like a theme park than the other 3 parks that make up WDW because of the animals, and the safari is one of best ways to see animals. Lines can get quite long, so we started our early entry mornings with standing in the FOP line and then heading to the safari after. Genie + helps but is not really necessary in this park. We went twice during our vacation and both guides were fantastic. We learned many facts about the animals we saw on the safari; each CM would spend more time talking about their favorites so each safari felt different, even if we saw the same animals. Giraffes are my favorite so it was nice to see so many on the safari! On a side note, you can see them at the Animal Kingdom Lodge too! Love love this ride!Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 September 2023
- PendragonStoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom302 contributionsGood SafariWe have done this attraction a number of times on previous trips. It was a bit more bumpy than I remember previously and we had a few stops due to vehicles in front. A good chance to see various animals, which our little ones enjoyed. We saw quite a variety, perhaps not as many as previous visits. It's definitely worth doing whilst in Animal Kingdom.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 26 September 2023
- L18SUMStirling, United Kingdom2,055 contributionsMeet some real animalsOur family of two adults, an 8 year old and a 6 year old visited Disney World for two weeks holiday in October. We enjoyed the safari even though we've been on a proper Kenyan safari and live within a few miles of an animal park. It's great Disney invest in conservation and along with their aquarium in Epcot, really good opportunity for people to see lots of different animals. Enjoy!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 November 2023
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, Minnesota5,847 contributionsAmazing Simulation of a Safari ExperienceKilimanjaro Safaris is a fun experience and is about as close as it gets to going on a real safari in Africa. As one would expect from the expert Disney imagineers, Animal Kingdom has created a savannah scene that would make you think you are in Kenya rather than central Florida. It appears that animals are roaming freely in the wide spaces. Best to go early in the day when it is cooler, and animals are more active. Use Genie + and grab a pass for the mid-morning.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 February 2024

We've been to Disney several times and the Safari is always on the list. Different times offer views of different animals. In general, early or late are the best times to see the most. They are expanding the animal area which will allow for even more sightings. An easy ride for young and old - don't miss it!

Loved it! So nice to see the animals just roaming free. Take video. The safari truck can be bumpy and doesn't always stop for an extended period of time, so pictures may not always be the best. Plus there are plenty of young animals running around playing and video is just captures it better. VERY IMPORTANT... get a fast pass! The morning safaris are best cause animals are more active. HINT: if you try to get a fast pass and none are available, (this is for all parks), keep trying people cancel constantly. On your my Disney experience app, select get fast pass, the date, then the park. If the one you want isn't available just hit the back key and pick your park again. You might have to do this a couple times or more, but I have been able to get fast passes even while in the park! So don't give up. Otherwise you could be one of the people in line for an hour or more. Big animal lover so this by far my favorite park. And there are plenty of self guided trails to see all kind of wild life and plenty of park people to tell you all about them.

This ride is what Animal Kingdom is all about. Guests board a covered open-sided truck and head off into the wild, driving amongst various animals that are found on the African Savannah. Have your camera ready, because you won't know what you will see where. The giraffes were particularly photogenic on our trip. Typically, the animals are more active in the morning and evening, rather than the hot afternoon, so grab a FastPass for those times if you can. Because it was 40 degrees the morning we rode, many of the animals were still hidden (by their choice), in their heated shelters; still, we had a fun trip. Hint: The best seat on the truck is the back row, and you can ask to wait for a load or two to get the back seat. The trucks load fast, so it was well worth the wait to have a great view all around. Warning: This ride is far bumpier than I expected. I get motion sickness, and felt woozy after the 15-minute ride. Wait for breakfast until after you ride the safari!

After a long wait, this 'safari' is a quick, 'cost conscious' event presented by WDW!
The trucks are on a timed schedule. The road is too bumpy . The drivers are given a memorized/repetitive speech. which competes with the sounds on the road, driving the truck, and speaking coherently?? The animals are given a glimpse by the guests.

This is inside Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Park. It is in the Africa section near the back of the park. This is the first time that we have been on this ride since COVID restrictions began. They handle the crowds very well and our wait time was about 10 minutes. It is a ride in an open truck through the various habitats. The views are the best in the park to see the many animals that are there. The driver keeps up a running explanation of the different sights as the truck follows the path and other truck from beginning to end. The road is not smooth and so expect a fair amount of side-to-side motion along the journey. Overall, a very nice ride and a must see if you come to the park.

We had a great time on the safari ride. We went fairly early in the morning and saw 3 rhinos cross in front of the truck, a hippo sunning himself out of the water and had a great look at the lions. Due to the animals and their unpredictability, every trip is different!

Safari life is naturally amazing and this ride located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is no exception. The animals in their own habitats and the spectators quietly watching life happen. Aboard a safari jeep, you get the comfort of driving rather than walking and see the wildlife up close and personal. One of our favorites!

The safari was great! We were able to see tons of animals and the drive made the humid air not so miserable. Get a fast pass if you can! Little kids might love or hate it. Great for a midday break from walking (even though the line takes a while). Highly recommend!

This was my main draw to Animal Kingdom. I had done this 16 years ago and remembered it fondly.
It really didn't let us down. We got onto the app early a d secured a LL for first thing, before the heat really took over and the animals retreated.
We saw a whole host of fabulous animals. The rhino mummy and baby wallowing was special. They were having a great roll around in the mud.
Plenty to see and our guide was great.

We’ve enjoyed this ride many times over the years & it’s always a winner. However, I have to say, after todays experience, Disney will want to reevaluate the people that they hire. Our driver had no personality & was in a hurry, stepping on the gas & brakes jerking us around when we got too close to another car.. We’re lucky as we’ve seen the ride evolve over the years. But I can only say, this last experience, we were bot impressed. Disney, you can do better.

How do we get tickets for it for 5 adults and 1 child 5 yr old.
We have park passes and tickets to Animal Kingdom on March 29. Can do early morning or whenever?

Are babies allowed on the ride?
Written 1 January 2020
Absolutely. Keep small ones on your lap. Toddlers should sit on the inside of the bench seat, not on the outside edge, with an adult on the outside. Can be bouncy and rock a bit at times,
Written 2 January 2020
Yes it's like a ride and you're in a closed car

Hola, es posible sacar un FastPass si compré las entradas a Disneyworld en línea?
Written 18 September 2018
Sí, Es posible y conveniente ya que es una de las atracciones más visitadas.

If you are staying in the park do you automatically get on the safaris
Written 9 July 2018
I am not sure what your question is, but I’ll try to best answer it. If you are staying at a resort on property, you get the opportunity to pick your fast passes 60 days prior to your stay. I suggest you get a fast pass for this attraction in particular bc the lines can get pretty long. If you are unable to get a fast pass you will have to stand in line, but if you get to the park when it opens the wait shouldn’t be too long. Also if you stay on property certain parks have magic hour on certain days, this means you get to access the park usually an hour before it opens to the public. If you get into the park during that time, it definitely won’t be a long wait. This attraction is a must see, so get there early and enjoy!

going end of July and booked a fast pass plus for 5pm. in your experience, is it a good time to see them (not too hot anymore)thank you
Written 15 June 2018
In our experience the morning is the best.
Evening might be good, but I would go later than 5. Maybe try it at the tail end of your window.
Written 16 June 2018
Not sure what the question is. If seeking park pricing, go to the WDW web site. If for the attraction, Kilimanjaro Safari, as already mentioned, it is included in the price of the Animal Kingdom park.

So this is part of Disney Animal Kingdom? Do you have to pay extra to go see the animals on the tour bus?
Written 10 April 2017
The standard Kilimanjaro Safari does not cost extra.
You are in an open sided vehicle with space to fit 4 people across each bench.
Plenty of animals will be visible, but each part of the day has different highlights based on normal animal behavior.
