Terrific place to hike

Guilty, as charged. I have never truly enjoyed all the responsibility of being an adult, and I LOVE running through the woods like a little kid. The lake, the oscar Finley trail... read more

Asked the ranger upon entering where the best riding was and she steered us int eh right direction. Never have we seen so many birds so close up. A little less crowded than some of the other hikes--you almost feel like you have the trails to yourself! We spent a truly wonderful hiking day here and will be back on... More

Friendly helpful staff and volunteers throughout the park. Campsites offer some privacy. Bathrooms very clean. Great access to nearby bike trail and beaches. We loved it here. Walmart a few miles away with plenty of restaurants nearby.

Guilty, as charged. I have never truly enjoyed all the responsibility of being an adult, and I LOVE running through the woods like a little kid. The lake, the oscar Finley trail, the Spanish moss, and the birds are terrific. Do yourself a favor and let out your inner child: hike or run through the wilderness at oscar scherer state... More

My husband and I spent some time in Florida looking at different camping areas. A friend suggested we check out this state park...so we did. We arrived at the gate and told the attendant what we were doing and asked asked if it would be possible to look around. She said nothing, walked away and came back a minute later... More

This is a great camping location. Only challenge sites not that level. Lots of trails and birdlife. Its nice and quiet. Would like to have spent more time at the park. Will go back.

Nice park. Helpful employees. Good trails. Very small so it's easy to get around. The birding was good. We came across the park by accident andvwe were pleasantly surprised, and will return.

This is a great state park for camping. You are close to the beaches and all the bars and restaurants but once inside the park it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. Lot's of bird's, turtles, snakes (signs are posted to be aware), spider's and armadillos. Trails for hiking and riding bikes. They even have Wi-Fi!!

I have had the privilege of volunteering at Oscar Scherer for over 15 years. This conveniently located State park is located just south of Sarasota, FL. The campground has about 120 sites all with water and electricity and a common swear dump site. The Nature Center has some great displays of the local animals, birds etc and during day time... More
