I’ve been to the Naval Aviation tons of times and one day as I was randomly driving to it once again I decided to take a last minute turn to see the lighthouse. They are minutes apart. This is the first lighthouse I’ve visited so...More
Unfortunately they closed the tower (lighthouse) upon my arrival. With lightening less than a mile out this was completely understandable and I'm thankful for the safety protocol as it POURED and lightening like I've never seen shortly thereafter. The museum is nice, and the gift...More
We love lighthouses! So far have climbed most in Florida and North Carolina. As part of our history, lighthouses help tell the stories of heroism, disaster, and self defense.

Almost across the street from the Naval Aviation Museum, this can be easily done in the same visit. The lighthouse offers terrific views of Florida's Emerald Coast, along with the Navy airfield. The beaches here are to die for!
The Lighthouse and Museum is a must do in Pensacola. You must climb 177 steps to the top but it is well worth it. Dave, our docent, was fantastic, providing so much information about the lighthouse. Don't miss this opportunity!
I have been to the lighthouse several times. I love the certificate you get when you complete, you do have to pay for but economical. There is a gift shop. This is a very picturesque place. I had considered getting married here. I would recommend...More

Unfortunately children cannot be carried up; it's a Coast Guard regulation and a safety issue. Like you stated, what most guests do is take turns climbing; one or more in your party stays with the child/children while the others climb and then they switch.
We look forward to your visit!
