Guided tours are offered to the church and a couple of the homes which you can only see via a tour. I loved the kitchen building where costumed volunteers were cooking over a hearth fire. We learned about ‘shotgun houses’ and other unique architectural styles of the area. We spent several hours here, an hour on the guided tour and more than an hour talking with costumed volunteers and shopping the very interesting gift shop. If you enjoy history, this place is well worth a visit.Visited January 2024Written 1 February 2024
- Brendan SArlington, Virginia2,152 contributionsThorough tourA tour of Pensacola Village was included in the price of admission to the nearby Pensacola History Museum. The tour goes through three houses and a church furnished from different eras between 1805 and the mid-20th Century. At two hours long, it’s very thorough and also heavily dependent on tour guide quality. Unfortunately, the guides were local college women who lack tour guide skills, forcing humor and an affect that got annoying quickly and the necessary knowledge base (“Mckayla” noted that women got the right to vote and drink and then had alcohol “taken away” by Prohibition, unaware that it was women voters who drove the Prohibition movement).Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 19 February 2024

The self-guided walking tour highlights the history from all eras of Pensacola history. There is a guided tour that is included and takes you into some of the historic building however the timing of the tour didn't work out on our visit. They are also doing renovation on a few building so there were some that were not accessible.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 June 2024
- Jessica MTexas5 contributionsFun exploring the history! My family had a great time exploring historic downtown Pensacola. It is FULL of crazy interesting history. We spent the day visiting as much as we could. There are a lot of places that are included with your ticket and your ticket last a week long. We didn’t get through everything, and sadly didn’t make it back. It is such a good time. Take the guided tour through the historic village, it was really interesting and fun to go into the old buildings. Our tour guide Fletcher was so knowledgeable and full of information. The kids museum was geared toward small children, but we still had a good time with my 11 year old daughter.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 June 2024

We visited early morning on a Thursday and found plenty of free on road parking nearby. We had a book with a guided walk to follow but you could just wander round the historic area. You can pay an entry fee to go inside the buildings but we didn't bother. Lots of lovely things to see including the Saville Sq.

Enjoyed our time at the Museum of Industry and the guided tour.
The Museum of Industry had several exhibits on industry in Pensacola - particularly liked the brick making and saw mill exhibits.
We took the guide tour at 1:30 PM and it lasted about 90 minutes. The tour starts at the Village well and continues to the outdoor kitchen, Lavalle House, Old Christ Church, Dorr House and Lear / Rocheblave House. Our storyteller, Gayle brought to life the 19th century era of Pensacola with her descriptions of the people, lives, work and surroundings. She keeps the group engaged with lively questions.
You get a map/brochure of Historic Pensacola when you buy your tickets.
Looking forward to going back to explore some of the other buildings and museums.

The tour of the historic homes was very interesting and informative. The tour takes a little over an hour and the guides do a great job of making the history come alive. The museum of industry adds another hour and is worth the time. Tickets are good for one week so you can break up your tour if you want. Several good places to eat and get a bite to eat right in the neighborhood.

I spent all day in the Historic Downtown Pensacola. I first toured the Museum of History before visiting the numerous sites in the village. Guides are on hand at the various locations to give you information and the Tivoli House is open where you can purchase souvenirs, use the restroom, and find out more about this house's fascinating past. If you listen close, you might still hear the faint sounds of dancing feet against the hardwood floors!

We will often visit museums when we travel and we like the living history museums. This one is a small example. There were a few people dressed in costumes of the period but during our visit they were conducting school field trips. That does happen in May.
We found parking about a city block from the Tivoli House where we purchased our admissions. Our next stop was the Museum of Commerce which features shops from the early 20th century and several carriages. Across the street you find the Museum of Industry with a history of the various industries around Pensacola…fishing, railroads, forestry and sawmills. The History Museum is located a couple of blocks away. This building has exhibits on three floors and was the only one where we showed our admission slip. Be sure to visit the Trader Jon on the second floor.
We did not have enough time to visit the houses that from the outside are nicely restored. However, admissions are good for several days if you plan to stay in the area.

This was a good set-up for a couple of hours. Make sure you book the tours in advance as there is a limit of guests allowed (especially in covid times), and they added greatly to the experience. Some of the self-guide houses were not so impressive.

When are the actors there? I've never actually seen them in all the times I've visited.

We went on a group tour with Road Scholar so the tour would have been included on this trip, however, I don't remember getting a ticket to have to show to anyone. I am sure if there is a cost it would be nominal,
