We visited The Blanchard House in December of 2017 when we were touring Punta Gorda,Florida. Rich in history with photos, documents and displays to educate and keep your interest, this museum is not to be missed.

The Blanchard House tells the story of the early years of Punta Gorda and the role of Black Americans in the everyday struggle to establish this town. A must see experience for residents, visitors, and snowbirds.

Extraordinary little museum if you appreciate history. Punta Gorda settlement (a Florida town with a long history) with a focus on African Americans. Excellent special exhibit about Reconstruction this year; Jim Crow era beginning in September 2016. And free! (Donations accepted, of course)

They did a phenomenal job of keeping the historical integrity of this location. Have attended many wedding there. Breath taking.
