One thing you must do when in the area of Kragerø is Island hooping. You need to visit some of the small island around Kragerø. I recommend that you either rent a bike or bring your own. So you can spend more time enjoying the nice view than walking around.

We use the ferry as transportation to get to the town of Kragerø without a long drive by car. The ferry is always reliable and on time. It is usually a smooth ride and if you are lucky to catch the newest Ferry MS Kragerø, it's a comfortable trip as well. They have lots of seating (as apposed to the older ferry Jesper) and even a cafe. A little pricey, but a great way to see the Skjærgård if you don't own a boat on your own.

Just do a long trip to the islands for the great views. The coast around Kragerø is very beautiful and well worth a ferry ticket even of you don't plan visiting any of the island.

We went on the Kragero, the ferry boat that carries both cars and walk-on passengers to the various islands out of Kragero, Norway. We only went to Skatoy, a 10 minute ride and were "walk-ons." Fare is collected on the boat. You can pay cash or use a credit card.

Reliable and efficient ferry. We do not own a boat at the time and the ferry is a great option for us to travel from Stabbestad to Kragerø town, and to Jomfruland. It is a must as it is a great way to see the beautiful skerries of Kragerø. The M/S Kragerø is a modern boat with a café and lots of seating, both indoor and outdoors. The old ferry Jesper is more basic, no café and very limited seating. I would like even more departure times, but I fully understand that it might not be profitable. What I don't like is that there are no departure directly from Stabbestad to Jomfruland, so that we have to first catch a ferry to Kragerø and then another to Jomfruland - and pay full price.
