We went to see this lighthouse also today. It is a real nice place to visit. Even though it is not in the original spot it's worth seeing. A lot of people made the piece of history last.

It was a clear, sunny day when we climbed to the top and got a great view of the surrounding area. Like many lighthouses it has a circular stairway (92-steps) from the base to the watch room and then a short (8-rung) ladder from the watch room to the lantern room.

The lighthouse is a nice place to stop and learn about the history of the rebuilt lighthouse. The museum is very well done and free to visit. A nominal fee allows you to climb to the top. The views are awesome.

This is a nice lighthouse, in a very great location, St. George Island. The island is a very dog friendly place. Beaches are very nice. I met several people who were on a "Light House tour". Quite a few light houses in this area, apparently. You can walk to the top of the lighthouse, which is about 96 steps. Then... More

There is a great story behind this lighthouse. That is, it wasreclaimed by the ocean and fell over. It was reclaimed again by people wishing to rescue the parts . They reconstructed it on its current spot! There is a 10 foot ladder at the top and the passage is narrow. But oh the view!

We made a quick stop at the lighthouse on the way out to the State Park. Very nice small park area surrounding the lighthouse with a beautiful boardwalk & shelter leading out to the beach. Several businesses and restaurant nearby and nice benches to lingerer or rest. Public restrooms were clean and nice.

This is a typical brick and mortar lighthouse. It's a reconstruction of the original using many of the same bricks. The light, museum, and surrounding grounds are well kept and provide ample photography settings. The climb to the top of this lighthouse is fairly easy, with wide well lighted stairs. There are windows along the way up and the top... More

A cool lighthouse right on the side of the road so easy access. Not very crowded but this is January so might be busier in the summer.

I enjoyed a quick review of the museum and photos of the former lighthouse. Great gift shop. It was fun to up into the lighthouse. I had to take a deep breath to climb up the ladder to the top.

92 steps to top, and they went by much more quickly and with less effort than I anticipated. Final climb is a short ladder into the top (depicted in the picture I uploaded with my little girl just coming up into the top). Lovely views. Friendly staff in gift shop and at base of lighthouse. Interesting history, including the 2005... More
