This is a great beach to head to for a swim or just for a wander after lunch. It was not crowded at all.

We drove from the East coast just for this beach and it was worth the 4 hour drive! The water was warm and really beautiful but we were there for the shells! Lots of signs about live shelling, I didn't even know that was a...More

The beach was empty today, apart from a clean up crew removing dead fish. It was a sad sight as this is such a beautiful beach. The red tide is very visible from Sanibel causeway and evident on Tarpon Bay beach. Very sad all round.

Love this beach. First Beach we have been to this week that had maybe two dead fish within 30 steps and they were very tiny you really had to be looking for him. Lots of seashells to find a sandbar in the waterways so the...More

Unfortunately we visited during the Red Tide. The smell and dead fish on the beach made the visit disappointing. Besides that, one could envision the beauty it normally is without the huge inconvenience of the Red Tide. Easy access, lots of beach to explore and...More

We made a special trip to Sanibel Island to visit the island and beach on our recent trip to Florida's west coast. Sanibel is gorgeous! We were slightly unprepared as we didn't dress in swimsuits. Traveling in July, it was hot...no shock there. We did...More

We loved this beach!!! The shelling was good and the water was warm, clam and shallow very far out. There are nice bathrooms and showers to rinse off. The parking is a little bit of a walk compared to some of the other beaches, but...More

I have read so many great reviews about this beach and could not wait to see it for myself. Unfortunately we were not there for more than 2 minutes when we were attacked by sand fleas and had to leave. So disappointing.

The beach at Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs is a small, neighborhood type beach park. Beach is small and the water is St. Joseph Sound, not the gulf, so it's not the best for swimming. It's a nice place to relax or... More
