Great place to bicycle.

Love riding my bike through Myakka. The road is not too busy. Shaded most of the way through. Love watching the abundant wildlife...including gators!

One of the many state parks we have visited. This is a typical Florida Park for scenery. The walkway and tower are worth the walk. Gators and deer in their habitat are seen daily.

We kayaked the upper River and enjoyed the serenity and the scenery. There were many different water fowl to observe such as wood storks, egrets, and herons. Buzzards and vultures like to hang around here as well. And alligators were everywhere along the shorelines.

We decided to check out the Myakka State Park one day during a recent Florida vacation. It was a short drive from where we were staying on the beach in Venice. The airboat ride across the lake was a quiet way to appreciate nature. The captain was very informative and kept the alligator and bird sightings exciting. We were able... More

1st camping trip in a FL State Park. Back in September we decided to do a state park camping trip over Thanksgiving break. Was surprised to find that just about everything in the state was already booked. However I checked on a daily basis and could see that some dates would pop up here and there due to cancellations. So... More

We visited the park with out of town company to take the airboat tour. The tour was lots of fun and very informative. We saw about 20-30 alligators both on the shore and swimming near the boat. We also saw many birds including osprey, herons, sand hill cranes, etc. and the boat captain was very informative. There were also informative... More

We took the air boat ride, we saw a few gators. Dad and the guys rode in the front of the boat and had a blast.

This State Park is a beautiful Florida place to see gators up close and in their own habitat, but be cautious, because this isn't a theme park, so you are part of their habitat as well. This is a beautiful place to hike, camp, bike ride, or just relax in the shade. Oh, and the air-boat ride is a fun... More

Love this scenery and amenities. Problem is that the elevation of many of the parks trails are low and frequently underwater. Pay close attention to the recent weather before you travel and wear appropriate footwear.

We were visiting our friends in Venice Florida and they recommended a visit to the state park. We spent about a half-day at the park which is huge. We didn't take advantage of all it had to offer such as camping, lodging and bike trails. There is even a large airboat to take a tour in. Admission was $6.00 for... More
