I have been attending RoSFest since 2012 starting out at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg PA. and the festival has always been a cut above the rest, what makes this festival special is it is held indoors for 3 day's and the is a nice break in between each performance. This gives the music fan time to eat and socialize with other attendees who have become family. In 2019 the festival moved to Sarasota to the Opera House. What a pleasant surprise. The music was just as amazing, all the usual attendees from Gettysburg showed up to show their continued support, the only thing that changed is the venue. While the Majestic Theater will always hold a special place in my heart, I believe the festival moving down south to the Sarasota Opera House was a big improvement. Great venue and world-class Art-Rock festival.

Sarasota Opera is a wonderful facility with just a terrific set of acoustics and a stage that is close enough to the audience to be intimate. Every performance we have seen has been very well produced and directed. The orchestra is talented and amazing, and the actors are all top-notch. We were at the opening of "The Secret Marriage" this past week and while the show is not one of the most well-known of operas, it was very enjoyable nevertheless. The Opera House is within walking distance of dozens of the nicest restaurants in the area, so taking in a pre-show dinner and a comfortable stroll to the show is absolutely a benefit of its location.

Whether a local or visitor to Downtown Sarasota, do take the very interesting Backstage Tour of the Opera House. Not only do you learn much about the current performers and the story behind the opera but the history and architecture of the building itself. Tour guides are lively and well learned on details.

THERESE, currently playing is superior!! A must see. The three main leads were excellent......and we were on the edge of our seats near the finale!!
A definite easy listening performance of a Massenet opera.

If you love opera, definitely worth a visit. Seat a little over a thousand. No bad seats. The singers are young, but excellent. Nice to see the leads in La Boheme in the right age range! Definitely worth a trip!

Customer service is horrendous, took wife and daughter there for Bugaku ballet and had to leave after 2nd intermission... temp in theater had to have reached 90 degrees. Walk in and ask usher for napkins that she had and she sent us to another location. Basically, is you are not a regular get ready to be treated like garbage.... show was good, service sucked

We are so sorry that you didn't have a good experience at the Sarasota Opera House. Though Sarasota Opera owns the Sarasota Opera House, we do not have control over renter events. That having been said, I will make sure to relay that information to the producers of the show you attended to make sure this issue is corrected. Please be certain that newcomers and regulars alike are treated with great care at Sarasota Opera events and also at renter events. Thank you so much for letting us know.

The Sarasota opera had a season that puts it in the front rank of American Opera Companies. Everything from the singers who were well chosen to the sets and the orchestra was great. After each performance I left the theater totally enthused.

Turandot in February 2013 is a brilliant and dynamic production, by Director Stephanie Sundine, with very lively chorus work under Roger Bingaman, and with Sarasota's usual first-rate orchestra work, under Victor DeRenzi; the sets support, rather than dominate, the action. The cast is well chosen - perhaps Brenda Harris in the title role leans more to wagnerian, but she is magnificent and powerful; Jonathan Burton's Calaf is very masculine and robust, and his fine round voice is shown to particular effect in nessun dorma, always a difficult test, but well passed; as Timur, Young Bok Kim gives his usual balanced and reliable performance, as always on the foundation of his fine and flexible bass - very moving; Ping, Pang and Pong are superb, with real characterisation and fun; however, far the best performance comes from Maria Natale as Liu - it doesn't hurt that she is beautiful, and her acting is excellent and convincing; but her voice! clear and elegant, with clean high notes and gorgeous tone; most importantly, her singing is absolutely in character, showing us Liu's love, her courage, and her nobility; and hinting strongly of the inspiration for Turandot's eventual change of heart; this is a production to be proud of - it would be wonderful for the show, and this fine cast, to be offered elsewhere around the opera circuit - well done Sarasota

Last week we attended Sarasota Opera's Rigoletto. We bought our tickets serveral weeks in advance and paid $19 each. Our seats were in the last row of the balcony, but had no problem seeing everything. It was a great cultural experience.

High quality opera but as we only visit Sarasota twice a year we have only managed to get to see one Opera in 9 years.

A wonderful discovery! A small opera but a great place to discover. We had an experience that exceeded our expectations. The performance of Rigoletto was so good, even for people like us who have attended operas in many European cities. Do not hesitate, book your reservations!
