Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

As an animal lover, and person who has helped rehabilitate animals in the past, I was shocked and horrified to see the living conditions of majestic animals. Bears in cages with no trees for shelter, on a scorching hot day, pacing up and down, up and down. A female lemur had just given birth in full view of the public... More

This is a nice place to see big cats (up close) and many other animals, it has a diverse assortment. Great place for kids. They have an enclosed animal show, which we didn't attend as it was very crowded. They also have pony rides and a petting zoo.I would allow between 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. It is however pretty... More

Great sanctuary for big cats, bears, birds, monkeys and a few other critters. Owned for generations by the same family. You'll meet a handful of the folks if you take in the 2 daily shows. I loved that the master of ceremonies suggested that before you buy a large wild animal to have as a pet you should think about... More

Once you're inside, you feel that you've entered an animal territory : many different kinds everywhere ? You can spend hours, before the show, admiring and even touching some animals.

Being cat lovers, we couldn't miss the Big Cat Habitat and boy, we were not disappointed. The animals are beautiful and the complex clean. It was apparent that the animals are well taken care of and loved by the volunteers and staff. In addition to the cats, there were bears, camels, goats, kangaroos, birds, monkeys, etc. There is a petting... More

This is one place I will never forget. Lions, Tigers, Bears and Ligars. I have never seen that many big cats in one place. Every animal is well cared for and respected. The show is worth the trip, amazing, fun and educational, at the end of the day you want to come back again and give! If your an animal... More

I was in Sarasota last week and had the great fortune to attend the Inaugural Jungle Jam event to raise money for the senior habitat and medical clinic! WHAT a place! Every single habitat has grass and a water feature. The animals coats are so shiny and they are clearly well.fed. The volunteers make the Habitat go round. They love... More

We visited the Habitat and feel that the animals need more room to run with grass and better living conditions especially the bears and lions. Some seemed stressed and not happy. We did enjoy our visit but feel things could be improved.

My wife and I did the VIP for the Jungle Jam. We had a great time having cocktails, horsd'oeurves and walking along the animals! What made this extra special was the ability to see the big cats later in the day and into the evening. We also like being able to stroll through the park at your leisure talking to... More
